People bagging himmelberg yes he wasn’t great. Go back and watch his showdown or Richmond games he’s not that bad. With freo into Jackson they know they need to find a back up tall that can play straight away if Lobb goes. I’m like everyone else and hope amiss & treacy are our tall forwards (with Jackson) but I still think they’ll need a back up ready to play if need as they can’t rely on tab’s body anymore

Ce
Because he was a defender and we had just drafted a key defender in the top 10 the year before, like just imagine starting your rebuild with back to back top 10 picks and using them on key defenders lmao. Plenty of defenders are often found with later picks.

Don't know why people keep bringing this up, Cerra was still a good pick.
Cerra was a real good prick..

Was thinking about this as well. Depends what sort of pick Dunkley gets. Essendon we’re almost offering the farm a couple of trade periods ago but his value has slipped. I have no idea what his trade would involve. Seems Port is one club after him but no way they give up a top 10 pick. Essendon no longer interested it seems.
Hamling, Dunkley, to port
Lobb, ports 1st to dogs
Dogs first to us.

Some future second and third rounders to balance it all out.

Then dogs first, plus our f1 to Melbourne

That’s why the bulldogs finishing lower and us finishing higher is better but around the mark for mine.

10, 28 (or 9, 27) for 14/15/16 and Lobb

According to draft points calculator which I know is limited that trade is rating Lobb on points to a pick between 18-20. I think that is about par.

We would start out asking for pick 10 or F1 and get to middle ground. Bulldogs would offer 28 or F2. If the first round upgrade is a smaller margin like 14 for 10 then we can get a later pick or upgrade our Geelong 4th round pick.

My understanding was the best we were likely to get last trade period was 2021 2nd or F2 from GWS which we weren’t happy with.
Last year Lobb was a player who was inconsistent and injury prone. This year he has played all bar 2 games and is on track to kick 40+ goals.

It's a different conversation this year. We wont part with our first for the Lobb deal, if anything its this years 2nd + F2 and maybe a late pick going their way

its not the nba mate. you cant just shipped a player off to another team unless they agree.

It was an example. Plus there has been a link or two made in that regard, so it was the first name to come to mind.

Lobb / Tucker
Griff - maybe
Acers - maybe
Blakey - DL
Crowden - DL

All out the side, + Pearce , Tabs and Fyfes unavailability at times.

I worry about this off season losing the fabric and culture out of the club, especially on game days. Regardless of who wing bring in.

I'm just going to put it out there, what about swapping Darcy for Jackson (maybe a second rounder and a third coming back). That way we don't have to find and give away top 10 picks. Darcy is a big man but his form has waned this year ,I'm sure he will get back to his best in the future. His knee is always strapped and I am concerned that he may became injury prone in the future. He is a bit slow for todays fast game and I think has trouble keeping his weight down and he is Victorian and probably at some stage in the future will want to go back.
We have Lloyd Meek who I think could become a top ruckman , he is big and strong and reasonable quick compared to Darcy.
We can the use our picks for other forwards.

For a bloke as big as him he moves well. He rarely gets caught out of position so im happy to keep him. He only has trouble keeping his weight down because he likes to sink piss too much.

Was huge on trading Hamling 2 years back. There was interest from Bullies as being a salary dump from memory.

Was really against S Hill getting a two year contract too as he was stuffed.

Some silly decisions regarding lengths of contracts back then.

If we can get a 5th rounder for Hamling, take it!

Would it surprise you to find out Sean Darcy is still crazy highly rated as a ruckman in the AFL, even performing under what we would hope and expect from him?

He didn't have a high impact game and hasn't for a month but he isn't at his peak age yet either.

I think Melbourne would bite our hand off to trade Jackson, Pickett and their first next year for Sean Darcy.

There's so much scope for him to improve and he is already rated in the best three rucks in the competition. I think he was #1 a little while ago.

You don't trade that player.

Also he is one of us, bleeds purple and the boys love him. Trading out those type of players is how you destroy clubs i.e. Kangaroos with Brown.

I’m suggesting that the Lobb deal is essentially tied into the Jackson deal. Melbourne will want an earlier pick than a couple of late teens. We use Lobb to get that too 10 pick and settle for a second.

Whilst I don’t mind the deal you propose I’m not sure it helps us get Jackson. We will then need get involved in Secondary deals.

Is there a scenario where Lobb doesn’t get the currency we require and he breaks contract to go where he wants anyway? Is that allowed? In any other workplace, contracts can be broken.
Fremantle would require him to either play for us or not play for anyone else before he is released to play for another team.

The AFL has the power to deny him the ability to play for lower level teams too without Fremantle's consent.

If he isn't traded he can move and sit out of football, but a year out is a long time at 30 and he will still need a trade to move prior to the draft end of next year too.

Also there's never been any indication that Lobbies the type of player to do something that extreme. This year he came back and has probably had his best season in purple for us.

I completely agree. If he could lose 5 or 6 kg's he could be an absolute gun as he is super quick and explosive even though he's carrying more weight than you'd like. As he is 29 its unlikely there would be too many teams looking at him but he could be the ideal player to trial if we left one rookie spot unfilled.
Are you aware of his criminal history? Assaulted his partner twice, including bashing and choking her in front of his children. Lucky not to still be in prison. Extremely poor character and I am 100% certain we would not go anywhere near him.
