So seeing as this time year is all about hypotheticals and witchcraft ect... And seeing as we all thought my buddy Griff had purple blood etc...
What if... Dinga has had a chat in Griff's ear? Something along the lines of -
"Hey Griff me old china plate! How about you do old Dinga a favour? See that big pin headed, pea heart Rock Lobbster over there? Help a brother out and just hold off on the contract for a while, help me extract a solid pick for the peroxided pelican and get his salary off the books? That'll help me get Wacko Jacko in. While we're at it let's play hard ball with Blinky Blacres, and flick him while we're at it? If we can pull this off we'll be able to chuck Chappy up on the wing, Jacko roaming around the flanks, and you'll be able to head back to backline and make a bit more cash while you're at it! Teamwork makes the dream work Griff. Capisce?"
Dinga Bell is playing chess while the rest of us are playing Checkers...
funny GIF

Personally I’m thinking of Jackson as long awaited karmic payback for Jeff White.

Plus they owe us for the steal they got with Langdon.

Alex Pearce just lines up Lachy Reid (and some poor bystander) and goes whack! Love to see it!!!

Not to take anything from the initial exchange, but "Bradley" was a little hard done by.

If you watch the report Mitch Cleary just said that Acres was on his way to carlton as he was "seen packing his bags today" a reference to the very widely debunked photo of him putting his footy boots in his car. His news report didn't actually say that Acres had officially requested a trade, that's what Fox Footy ran with referring to Clearys report, and the west have run with referring to fox footy. Football journalism in this country is embarrassingly terrible, let's just wait for confirmation from the club that he's actually requested a trade first

I don't think Cleary would have reported on it if it wasn't confirmed. Thought it was more so, "a trade request has been confirmed, and look he's moving all of his stuff out too".

Article in West Australian by Rhino confirms that Acres did request a trade.

It sucks that the club have put so much time and development in Tucker then in return nothing is coming our way.
Same with Acres. Played him in his natural preferred position.
Henry won’t be a star, if at all, even on the wing. Think Aish will have to cover the wing spot for now

Chapman.

David Walls ... “Time in the midfield is also an option both inside and on the wing. He’s still very young, he’s learning the position he’s in and he can lock that down and know it inside out, but in time he’ll be able to go through the midfield, play inside and on the wing no worries as well.”

Disappointed Acres is leaving but there are options within the playing list, Chapman at 193cm with a solid preseason, being just one of them.
Could be key for keeping Logue.
Develop Chapman in the wing spot, Logue goes back. Simple. That’s the pitch Bell should give to Griff to re sign him

Yep. Basically lobb comes at a significant discount next year salary wise. Unless we get remuneration that is high pick wise, he’s not worth moving.
This here backs up me saying trading Lobb for a 2nd rounder and a swap of 1sts isnt enough and you all laughed at me.
Hope the 🛎 doesn’t join North. Really rate him.
I dont think he will. You'd think North would want their guy to start ASAP and Bell's duties with us wont be done until draft night in November.

Ok, so if we’re in that scenario next final series and they all depart. They can be replaced with the following

Logue - Jackson
Lobb - Tabs
Tucker - didn’t play
Meek - didn’t play
Acres - Fyfe
Mundy - Erasmus/Henry

Plus every kid on our list is 1 year older and a bit stronger. We will improve each year as the bulk of our players move into their prime.

Improvement isn’t linear but I’m not sure why people are so upset by turning over fringe players. The only two without contracts are coming off career best seasons which is a bit of a warning sign anyway.

Very fair point but you want fringe players in their mid-20's who can slot straight in. Next year our fringe players will be Erasmus, Johnson, Sturt, etc.

The key to our 2013 side was that we had Suban, D Pearce, etc as fringe players that could slot in and play a role in big games.

Tucker is contracted.

If teams want him, they need to give us something we can use ie third round pick or upgrade pick.

A question for Taylor, there’s talk of Bellie being poached by North Melbourne, does his position (ie salary) fall under the soft cap?

Sent from my iPad using BigFooty.com

I'm not actually sure if Executive General Manager of Football is a football department position in regards to soft cap spending on football departments.

He is the highest point for all of S&C, coaching, list management etc and has involvement with all of them particularly in the public facing side but in the same way the media team do, just with more administrative powers.

I think you can make the case that the administrative apparatus supporting the actual work of the footy department isn't part of the footy department and Bell falls more into that side.

In 2013 we weren’t good enough because we had too many passengers. The fringe players had big bodies but limited skills and smarts.

They become high talent players and we might actually win one. If they become high talent, big bodies we might win more than one.

It’s interesting that North Melb have been linked to Logue and Tucker, amongst other clubs players as well. Offering big $.

Problem is current draft capital

They have #1 pick, and then a 4th round pick, the rest has been traded away. They also don’t have a lot of players clubs would trade for, maybe Thomas but it’s a bare cupboard at the Roo’s.

Just leaves future picks to get everything done… which I’m not sure will fill our Christmas stocking!

Can anyone clarify the whole Jackson grew up a Freo supporter claim by some, given an the article I just read states.

The prospect of Jackson spending a few seasons learning under Naitanui’s guidance, too, is appealing. Jackson spoke of his admiration for Naitanui before he was drafted in 2019.
“I still remember as a family we’d always go to Eagles games and I’d just be watching Nic Nat,” Jackson told foxfooty.com.au three years ago.

He was a freo supporter but liked nicnat. I think it was something abt they couldn't get wce memberships so decided to go for freo at a young age.

There was alsi a draft interview video of prospects saying which team they support and he said Freo.

I'm guessing SOS doesn't like us.

Jackson, former pick 3, average stats but a good quarter in a grand final, worth a pick around where he was drafted plus something

Taranto, former pick 2, far better stats and performance in his role, also played well in a GF (loss), worth pick 12

Never mind Cerra last year where he was steadfast that 6(8) would be enough.

And Pop goes the weasel…

Still don’t get what Bulldogs need with another tall forward, unless they don’t think the current ones will make it, or biding time while they develop.

Is Schache going to be a half of a steak knife?
Lobb and English rotating ruck/forward. Means they can play Darcy, Naughton
down back. JUH then gets the mis-match.
That’s a spine of players with envious skills.
They are set for a sustained finals bracket, and can concentrate on drafting
or trading for needs.
It improves their list from the elimination final, something we are yet to see at
Freo.

I think the balance of evidence has shown Silvani isn't a particularly good spot of talent. Silvani and Lyon are very good mates so I expect his loyalty to his friend, which is good, extends to maintaining some resentment to the ex after the breakup - long after the friend has gotten over it.

I'd like to get our hands on North Melbourne's future first. Rumours swirling of North being given pick #11 and #19 this year as compensation picks.

Perhaps something like our future third round pick, Tucker and Logue for pick #11
No way north would do that deal. 19 maybe but not with 11.

The reality is that talls are always in high demand, take years to develop.
You can build a team around the spine.
Midfielders can have an instant output, always plenty available to draft or trade.
