FMD. I rarely watch any WAFL footy, so didn’t know much about him.

Obviously raw, but this is a ridiculously good highlight reel.

His lowlights reel must be ****ing terrible because based on that, he should have gone #1 in the ND.

Some quality melts on the Essendopers board abount picking a small rather than Carmichael:

Pre MSD:
My 1st choice is a big mid, Culley or Carmichael.
2nd choice is a ready to play small forward.
D'Ambrossio wouldn't mind either but the backline is not an area of need.
Culley as the high upside 19 year old, 22 year old Carmichael with form against men whilst D'Ambrosia could be the small defender we want. I doubt we go D'Ambrosia but who knows..

I’d love us to take Charmicheal but knowing our list manager he will take Kantilla. Which I actually have no dramas with given our small forward stocks. I also would love Derkson as our list needs as much talent as it can get.
This is a big reason why I am forming for Carmichael.
Culley was already in the system last year and was overlooked. He hasn’t all of a sudden transitioned into this superstar that HAS to be picked. Carmichael was playing club footy 18 months ago and did really well at state league level. Sound familiar.
Carmichael is on a better trajectory than Culley imho
I think Carmichael is more outside than people assume. I watched the state game and he played a lot of wing and was quite uncontested. His kicking was great though and he hit the scoreboard.
This is reflected in his SANFL stats, his clearance numbers are good but not great. He has fewer clearances than 19 year old Oliver Davis.
He will fit in as a good, tough wing and would likely add to our best 22.

Seriously, wake up. I've been somewhat of a defender of Dodoro but this has been a blindspot of his for a long time
I did really like the rise of Carmichael though, I see plenty of upside considering he was playing country footy just last year.
Unpopular opinion: I wouldn’t be drafting Carmichael with the intention to play him inside, I’d be looking at a big, physical winger that can run the tram lines and take a mark
Everybody complaining about passing on the inside mids obviously aren't caught up on the trade and free agency thread. Folks in there have already recruited both Brayshaw and Dunkley so let's cool our jets OK we're covered.

We have a defender who won vfl player of the year awaiting to come back from
Injury. North took the bloke who couldn’t get a game because of him. All the other so called talls obviously weren’t viewed better than say McMahon who is developing. So why get one just for the sake of it?

His lowlights reel must be ******* terrible because based on that, he should have gone #1 in the ND.

The athleticism is simply unreal, particularly the leap and ability to just absolutely burn off opponents without seemingly even trying.

I was more surprised how natural his foot skills and ability to just innately baulk/blind turn/wrong foot his opponent was. Very impressive.

What key forwards were there? Some of the usual suspects like Tyler Keitel didn't elect for the draft (if I recall correctly), so not sure there was any talent there we missed.

I must admit I am confused by who he is talking about. Derksen and Ramsden were both gone, and Carmichael was a slider. It's not as if we have an abundance of goal-kicking mid options

Derkson was gone by our pick. Johnson was looking great as a key forward before injury.

Again, your claim of VFL dominance isn't particularly warranted (they have had good spells, not dominance). And that is fine given we have some top end talent on the way out in Sidebottom (perhaps this season) and Pendlebury (next season). Not to mention uncertainty regarding the future of De Goey and to a lesser extent Elliott.

All the talls you wanted were gone by our pick, so unless you have a time machine and can go back to leg a few of our players and get some more losses, you’ll just have to accept that we’re not getting any talls until the ND.
