The whole ' potential to cause serious injury' is BS as they would have to rule anyone going for a speccy out if they were consistent

This is exactly it. Had he been the one coming back with the flight then it is a different story, but just because the kick wasn't intended for him it doesn't mean he's not allowed to go for it.Serious question, what happens if Willie marks it (with the exact same contact occurring)?
It's not like he was that far away. That can't be a suspension
Tom De Koning put his knee right into the back of Nathan Broad’s scone on Thursday night but he’s been nominated for Mark of the Year for it.
That action has “potential to cause serious injury”. Will the AFL scrap the speccy?
Clearly he was meant to run as fast as he could in the opposite direction to the ballThe weird thing is the focus on him turning his body and taking his eye off the ball. What was he meant to do there? Cannon into Rowell front-on, clash heads and have them both leave on a stretcher?
Or just stand there. I mean the umpires yell it at the players often enough these days.Clearly he was meant to run as fast as he could in the opposite direction to the ball

AFL: ‘if only Willie played for Hawthorn’The ongoing conflict for the AFL of wanting to celebrate a Rioli but penalise the Eagles.
"this would be so much easier if he just played at a different club!"
