Just had a squiz at the preview thread on the Essendon board.

It is 67 posts compared to our 827. Clearly they are not as interested in this match as we are.

And not suited to a really uncontested side. Eg a team that is:

17th in Contested possessions
18th in Contested possessions rate (contested as % of overall disposal)
15th in Clearances
18th in Tackles (2.5 std deviations away from average!!!)

You know..... softer than marshmallows...

Yep he is a must "IN" this week not just for his hardness at the ball but his outlet marking around the ground has been priceless in most of our wins.

To me if fit IN: McKaypraying, Kennedy, Durdin(Debut),Martin,Marchbank bigger bodies and marking power around the ground where we were soundly beaten last week against the Filth.

I still think 13 wins makes the 8, but something to consider....

When you get an unusually high number of unusually bad teams (eg WCE, Nth, *).... it does lift up all others. So you might find this year that 8th has more wins than usual, 10th might have enough wins to make the 8 in other years.

But yeah, 5 more wins should do us. And 5 wins should be doable.

This season has a 1993 type feel about it.
In that season 12th team on ladder of 15 teams, had only lost half their matches. Only 20 matches in home and away season in 1993.
Was also only a final 6 that season. Was weird season in terms of way ladder was distributed. This feels like a weird season too where normal expectations off what wins makes finals could be off.

I suspect they will bottom out over the next couple of years as their senior players retire.

No way Marchbank is ready yet sadly. Missed the most recent vfl game with injury and then we've had the bye as well. Needs a few good weeks in the 2s to get his fitness back
