Maybe, but it’s also going to take some time to get Pitto up to speed and our issues aren’t personnel issues - we haven’t sustained the game plan that was so successful in the first half of the year and are really struggling to generate meaningful forward 50 entries.

I’d be shocked if there’s much to come. We’ve been slightly flat for a month or so and it was always going to be a challenge maintaining form.
Why would it take much time to get pittonet up to speed? He's played 2 good games in the reserves. His game is to be a big presence and jump into the opposition and grind them down so tdk can jump over them late.

From memory Melbourne got beaten by lowly Adelaide around this time last year. The trick is to keep winning from here and build some momentum. Why couldn't we beat Brisbane, Melbourne or Collingwood? None of them are world beaters.

We were disappointing last week. There is no reason for that loss to define our season unless we allow it to do so.

Gotta say it - and someone mentioned it in the match thread - the Saad Woof thing is utterly cringeworthy. Come at me.....
It becomes ironic when he mostly does short kicks.
So yeah.
Wish it never happened.
Not a good fit at this point.

Just contrived and forced. Unfortunately it is here now and won't go away. Like that smell in the fridge.

My girlfriend laughed everytime he kicked short and half the fans half heartedly shouted “woof” it is a little cringe. There was a kid near me who was barking everytime, so at least the kids are having fun - even if they didn’t understand the assignment 🤣

The game is not for kids!

I think he has gone to a new level of performance since being officially loved loudly by a few tens of thousands of fans every week and it puts off the opposition anyway - has been a couple of decades since the oppos' have felt the weight of Carlton bearing down on them ..

It's about my enjoyment of the game. Not his feelings, not Carlton, nothing but my game day experience.

Players don’t typically come in and dominate after being out for a long period of time.

Even Walsh took a while to build into the season after sustaining an injury over the pre-season. Weitering has been pretty mediocre since returning - I can’t recall him taking too many intercept marks after coming back into the side.

It’s going to take a few weeks to rebuild that midfield chemistry with Pittonet back in the side, but he should be an upgrade on TDK.

We can beat all of Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Collingwood but it doesn’t mean we’re going to. GWS are playing out time and have different sets of priorities to those team - Adelaide aside (who are still a good chance at home and trying to salvage something from the season) and even in todays game tried a few different things. C. Brown into defence, Wehr onto a wing and a few stints in the forward 50.

If we play like we did today against Melbourne or Brisbane we will get beaten comfortably.

I think we will beat the Crows and Pies but I have low expectations going into the finals series with some decent teams sitting in that 4-6 range currently.

Agreed.

This woof, by the crowd for saad, is uneducated. Woof came for Val Perovic and Christou because they were big long kicks.

Not because they can kick

4 more weeks everyone. 9 years too long. Professional second half and 6 goal win I’m more than happy with.

Gotta praise H’s game today. He was fantastic even if he dropped a couple he’d usually take. Want our small forwards to get more involved, their 4th quarter was very good. 2 weeks on the road now, let’s see how we go.

Agree with this, at the same time it’s a pretty novel concept in the modern game.

I only followed footy at the back end of Christou’s career and can recall him generally taking long options. It’s bizarre seeing the woof come out for a 15 metre chip down the line.
