He pushes so many passes and puts us under pressure. How many of his disposals were kickouts? He was okay but who else do we drop? Our forward 50 pressure is a huge part of our game. I don't think we can drop Durdin or Owies.
thought durdin was quiet tonight

Really surprised with the Fog talk. I thought he played well. And the stats kinda back it up.

14 touches as a forward at 86% efficiency (5th best for us) also 16 pressure acts (8th best).

Yes no goals and only 2 tackles. I still reckon he deserves another week.

I just don't know who else would come out for Cerra..

Four changes from the 22, with the sub dropping out.

TDK and Pittonet are not working. Pittonet wasn't really doing much resting forward, and TDK wasn't staying in the game consistently, with our forward pressure falling away a bit as the game dragged on.

Put that together with English figuring out that he could just play off Pittonet at the centre bounce, and you've 2 slots in the team effectively performing like 1.25 players.

I'd like to raise that number, get TDK where he can currently perform in this line-up, and just have Young (D50 stoppage), McKay (forward half stoppage), and JSOS/Kennedy (run-with/general stoppages). The centre bounces might be a little tricky, but I think the weaknesses introduced for say 5-8 centre bounces a game is worth the reward.
You must have watched a different game re pittonet/TDK

OUT: Newman, McDonald (inj), Pittonet, Fisher/Fogarty, Plowman

keen to see if Dow can shake things up when we start to get challenged at centre bounces.
Definitely a good way to ensure we get challenged at bounces is dropping the ruckman that's been dominating them. We had 12 hitouts to advantage in the first half I believe (think it was a half time stat) and they had 2. No way Pitt gets dropped and for the first time ever, I want him in as much as the coaches.

Beating Tim English to the tap is not an achievement to be crowing about. In the second half the Doggies adapted and used him as an extra mid more and more, opening their game up.

Pittonet then proceeded to fade into the background.

I think we may be taking it for granted that Cerra and Martin are actually WELL ENOUGH to play.

Covid can hit you hard, Hopefully not.

Otherwise simple for mine....

Fogs tried hard and did some good things but Martin has to come in.

Newman for Cerra.....Yeah I know numbers and like for like but there was one moment that sealed it for mine.
Watch the replay . NOT GOOD, Did not put his body on the line .

Plowman into the 22 for O’Mac.
Cerra for Fogarty.
Martin in for whoever is out under health and safety protocol, otherwise becomes the substitute.

Want to see who is banging the door down in the VFL.

Really worried that our defensive tall depth is about to get severely tested. Hoping Omac’s issue isn’t serious but it could well be given he missed all of last season due to his back.

Weiters simply must stay fit, hopefully Young and Plowman can provide enough support if Omac is out. Wonder if they’ll consider TDK as a key back if we cop another injury?

You’d think we’ll grab a defensive tall mid-season (how good they’ll be is the problem), and it will be our first order of business in the off season. Really hope it doesn’t cost us games this year though.

As soon as Stocker is ready to go Newman is the obvious casualty.
These are the signs of the team on the improve.
Have to say I’m now on board with playing both Pittonet and TDK.
Pittonet doing the bulk of the hard yards and TDK fresh maintains constant pressure on the opposition.

I saw that moment too, wasn’t great. But Newman has plenty of runs on the board when it comes to putting his body on the line. Balance between backs/mids/fwds is perfect at the moment. I can’t see MC upsetting that by bringing in a mid for a back.

Stocker/Plowman/Newman are my preference for the last spot in the best 22. Newman is good at kickouts but is otherwise a liability.

Martin in for Fog for mine. Durdin was quiet stat wise but he and Owies always seemed to be impacting whenever theyre there. Fog wasn't bad but wasnt good. Martin/Fisher/Durdin/Owies as the smalls works imo.

Cerra in for...Setterfield imo. Setters has exceeded my expectations so far but imo he should be fighting out the spot with LOB. Walsh and Cerra to rotate on the other wing.

OMac stays if fit, if not bring in L Young. Like for like. Plowman in means we need gov to play more accountably which shoots us in the foot

Williams Weitering Saad
McGovern OMac Doch

Walsh Cripps LOB
Pitt Cerra Hewett

Martin Charlie Durdin
JSOS McKay Owies

Kennedy TDK Fisher Plowman

My preferred team and close to best 22 if whole list is fit. Stocker in for Plowman the only change with a fully fit list.

Sheesh, there are some hot takes in here...

Pitt out?
LOB out?

I want what they're smoking

10 days should be fine for Omac..we'll know by Monday I'd say.

Martin needs to be playing football. Not a sub, IMO.

IF we changed the small setup, I'd have to see Owies go before Durdin. Durdin last week just has me salivating against the Hawks. I'm not sure owies has too much growth left in his game, whereas Durdin has match winning potential IMO.

Wait and see on OMac's back, but Young is an obvious inclusion if required.

Cerra is an automatic inclusion, obviously, with Fogarty most at risk (although he was serviceable).

We really didn't get much from Durdin today, which is disappointing, it would be harsh to drop him after a reasonably strong round 1. Needs to do more than 9 pressure acts, that's for sure.

Where to fit Martin? Are the MC ruthless enough to drop one of Owies/Durdin? Maybe.

In: Cerra, Young, Martin
Out: Fogarty, OMac, Durdin (so sorry, but 6 disposals, 9 pressure acts and 1 disposal is not good)

Pending VFL game and injury reports.

We should be putting the Hawks to the sword and gaining some percentage, but take nothing for granted, just want another win.

Here's the thing about Durdin....he was quieter than last week, but that was mostly because the talls were clunking them and slotting goals early, and late in the game we couldn't get it forward.

There's a real penchant on BigFooty for reactionary changes. Someone has a quiet week, may as well drop them and see if someone else can do more. I'm pretty confident that's not the right approach, nor is it the one the coaches will take.

No "omitting" players after a single quiet outing, especially those in roles which are traditionally feast-or-famine.

More info required to suggest ins and outs
Are Cerra and Martin sick or just positives?
McDonald has a recent history of back issues. Reckon Young is almost certain.
JSOS sore knee, may be touch and go.

Nobody deserves to be dropped. Like many, I previously regarded LOB and Setters as possible/probable players to make way. Both played important parts last night and are building. Safe for mine.

Durds faded during game, but was off an injury cloud, so a bit underdone on training track and plays a high pressure game. Ten day break surely has him primed. Fog will be first out for Cez.

Cerra, Martin and Young likely in. Giving Kemp a chance to come in with a big performance in the twos if JSOS is in doubt.

Still struggling with the concept of youngsters Stocker, Kemp, Carroll, Dow, Motlop and maybe Honey and Philp “demanding”game time. (Not to mention Ed, Newnes and Plow ever ready to step up, with Marchy and Cuningham to return later)
