Well I'll be....

I got howled down for suggesting the same only a week or so ago.....if he was a cheap get, why not?

I haven’t seen much of him, a few games last year - has he got some genuine pace? I always thought of him as a bit one paced with an average kick. Definitely able to accumulate touches

Not saying he can’t play but would you rate him straight above Schoenberg, Taylor, Crouch, Keays? Or does he just add to depth

Fussy lot here. This time last year I made some comments about the crows having a go at Hewett from the Swans. Same thing they got all upset and turned the noses up.

He’s done pretty well for Carlton this year.

Hewett is a far better player than Dow though

Really? I missed that. Do you have any info on it? I can’t find it anywhere.
You can google it - I think Collingwood took nine picks into the draft last year, most of which were used for Daicos.

I believe the idea partly came from - if you gave something up for picks, then you now "own" their value, which either you use as a pick, as a set of points of as a trade asset.
Of course, if you don't use them by the end of the draft, their value is lost.

We have very few list spots is probably the first reason.

I think Rende

coz he’s s**t, most of Rendell’s opinions are pretty cooked these days
I disagree, he's been very good in the VFL this year and was a standout last game against Collingwood with a heap of AFL listed players. How many of his VFL games have you watched this year?

… like Dangerfield?

… like Lenny Hayes?

… like etc etc.

It’s ridiculous to equate one specific role within a team directly with that team’s success.

Maybe a better way to say it is that without elite mids, it is very hard to win a premiership.

There is a difference though.

You need a team around those elite midfielders.
True. Look at GWS

Burst speed very similar to Scoenberg, in fact quite like Schoenberg in a lot of ways but taller at 188cm and still only 22 years old.

Like I said worth a chance if he came cheap enough.

Pretty hard to break into Carlton's midfield the last couple of years with the likes of Cripps, Walsh, Kennedy and the recent additions of Cerra, Setterfield and Hewett.

Draft Central's draft Bio : Paddy Dow

Hmmm... not sure about that. This Coll website post dated 18 oct listed them holding 2021 picks 36, 38, 40, 43, 46, 48, 55, 58, 78 and 79.

Then the AFL post dated 23 nov listed Coll having picks 36, 38, 40, 46, 48, 58 going into the draft, which is a good match with Coll losing about 5 players net in 2021 from their list.

Presumably they traded away a few of the picks that had on the 18th.

Yes but the loose intercept defender is the easiest gig in football. Sure Lever does it well but it's not that difficult.
Brent Reilly shone in that role for us for a year or two, having been bog ordinary in previous roles. Hell even Jason Cloke excelled for Collingwood for awhile

His game awareness and leadership puts him in another category though. He won them that game against Carlton with his awareness just before the last play. There's a reason we were upset when he left the club.

I believe there are other links earlier in the thread, as it's been discussed previously.

The rule changed in 2020 from memory.

I think that AFL post is formatted to show the first six picks clubs hold, but Collingwood still possessed other points.

In fairness Hewett played every game he was healthy and available at AFL level for the last 5-6 years. Not quite where Dow is in the pecking order at Carlton

Sorry to post here but had to laugh at Gary Buckanara’s steaming pile of an article on your mob today.

They will need to use their first-round pick (currentlypick 5) to secure Rankine or maybe they can see if the Suns are interested in Crouch and a second-round pick.

In what dimensions would a second round pick and Crouch get Rankine 😂

I hope you get him and will enjoy watching him play here!

I'd think it'd be hilarious after all their posturing over the move to end up with a second and Crouch
