AFC list management accidentally trading for Aaron Francis instead of Horne-Francis for a third rounder.

Reminds me of Collingwood signing Chris Mayne to a $2 million contract thinking he was David Mundy. True story.

Its a great publication. Nailed the reasons behind our player exodus too

also remember melbourne thought they were getting VB instead of Vince

wish it had been vb....

We might if McAsey goes.

Personally, I'd probably rather another year of McAsey.
Personally I'd prefer to recruit a "cleanskin" with no personal issues later in the Draft, Oakleigh Charger overager tall athletic Jed Rule has played some really good footy this season and is on Hawthorn's VFL list as well which suggests they're looking at him given their history of using this pathway successfully with several of their players Jai Newcombe the most recent.

And he will be very good for them with their sliding zone set up .
I was discussing it with a mate the other day.

I think Frampton is the Jenkins of defenders.

Jenkins was essentially a small/mid sized forward in a key position body.

Frampton is a mid sized defender in a key defender body. Basically he's an elite kick of the footy and so you really want him playing as your quarter back. So ideally you have him playing on a mid sized forward.

The problem is that he's not overly quick or mobile, so he will struggle with the more explosive forwards. But he's also not a good enough defender to play on the key forwards.

Essentially, if you have a good enough defensive structure and play a zone set up, there probably is a role for him. Will be interesting to see if Collingwood can work it out for him.

Francis will be delisted. I doubt Port will touch him after he messed them around through his trade request a few years ago.

He'd be a good depth player if we lose Frampton and McAsey. Put him on minimum chips and let him run around in the 2's.
We already have Worrell for the exact same position, and I'd much rather have Worrell.

Francis sounds like another missing piece for our friends down the road.

He'd be okay as a Keays/Crocker style rookie pick, but not worth giving up a senior list spot for.

If he's taking anyone's spot in our AFL side it should be Brodie Smith's spot

We literally don't have the list space

Can we do a Jared Polec at North Melb last year with Seeds to free up a main list spot?

Meaning getting Seeds to relinquish the last year of contract, then de-list him, but commit to re-selecting him in the Rookie draft for his previous remaining contractual term and salary?

So Seedsman would enter the Rookie draft seeking 1 year at $450-500K or whatever he currently earns. I think that it’s a very safe bet no one else would pick him.

Maybe it was easier for North last year because they were able to use Pick 1 in the Rookie Draft last for the purpose - hence absolutely no risk to the player concerned (other than shame)?

Wow, that makes more sense, but wtf does a professional list manager not know the difference between 2 players.

What?

Jenkins was Jenkins. Very fast big man who Pyke had a specific roll for, we had a very fast fwd line and our gameplan at the time took advantage of it. He was no Wayne Carey but I don't think there's many big man these days that constantly can take a big pack mark.

Frampton is neither a good fwd or defender ... but I don't want to put Collingwood off Frampton, he's a great defender.

TBH I would kinda like a 2nd tier team to pick up Aaron Francis and give him a season as a pure midfielder.

Can't help but feel like 6 years at the Essendon FC has made that kid forget more about footy then he knew as a 17 year old.

Not sure I'd be willing to give up the list spot for that experiment, but would certainly like to see how he faired as the 190cm big bodied mid he looked like he could become in the U18 carnival.

frampton will be better at collingwood than adelaide because the other 5 defenders are excellent. they will also create a role for him.

They forgave Fantasia pretty quickly
