He’s 187cm. Of course he’s going to get outsized and outclassed in a position he’s not built for

And yet we played him there a few times over the last two years. As a back up (3rd tall actually playing) KPD and interceptor Worrell is a far far better option than Doedee.
Doedee probably needs to become our lock down medium/small defender moving forward

Lets not go that far at this point, as Doedee is a better interceptor. Though, we should be looking at pairing Worrell and Doedee as our third/fourth defender seeing that's a fair bit of intercepting power. Especially with Butts and Murray trending upwards with it as well.

Yeah Doedee should’ve never been made to play 2nd KPD

Worrell would be capable at that role due to his height, but Doedee still has his benefits in our defensive line, particularly as an interceptor. The former is more a 2nd/3rd tall, while the latter is best used as a 3rd tall-cum-medium defender. We can fit both, plus two KPDs, into the same side if needed - and if a KPD goes down, we can shift Worrell and Doedee to the 2nd and 3rd tall roles respectively, allowing us to shift a smaller defender into the side if need be

Flexibility

Couldn’t agree more. Doedee as a KPD just doesn’t work. One of the most frustrating things this season was seeing him regularly outbodied and outsized by key towards. He’s shorter than both Brodie smith and Jordan Dawson!

What is the realistic ball park return we should expect from Frampton, McAsey, Rowe, Crouch, Sholl? Plus any others I have missed.
Frampton - 4th rounder, maybe a 3rd given the rumoured contract
McAsey - 3rd rounder
Rowe - 4th rounder
Crouch - 3rd rounder if we pay his contract
Sholl - late 2nd rounder or early 3rd

Depends on whether we offer to pay some their salaries.

Why are many on here concerned about losing Frampton - if we are to improve then cuts need to be made. He has had multiple opportunities at AFL and has been proven to be not up to the level - he will be at his third club if moved on.

Are we seduced by his bird to the Norwood crew?

If we are to improve the list we need to make changes he is one of them.

It's smart to trade a player we don't really need when they have some value...

He had a single good game for us... but apart from that 1 game, he has shown he is not afl standard. If Collingwood are offering a packet of chips, someone start the car and give him a first class ticket. Nothing personal on him... but we have so much dead wood and getting anything is a real bonus.

Even worse is the fact it's happened before this season too.

As I said about this time last year, I'd have loved to have seen Doedee move into Kelly's position and Frampton into Doedee's while leaving Murray and Butts as the KPD. If he was made to be accountable, Frampton would have lost out to a leading 3rd tall but in a wrestle, he'd have faired better than Doedee who just doesn't have the size.

I also just wanted to see them both been given more rope to leave their direct opponents to help out with contests as they see fit which Doedee is amazing with and Frampton can have his moments.

Unfortantly it never happened but I hope we can find a way to push Doedee down the size pecking order but the 3rd tall replacement would have to be a good kick given we don't really get much from Butts/Murray/Doedee going the other way.

Worrell is a better footballer than anyone else in this discussion, is now the third tall, and as a result, Doedee will never be playing that 3rd tall role again if everyone is fit.

Likely Round 1 defence
B: Doedee - Butts - Parnell
HB: Worrell - Murray - Smith
Int: Hinge
Rotating between wing and defence: Dawson

If Butts or Murray were to go down injured, McAsey or Borlase would get a run as things currently stand, unless we decide to trial Himmelberg back there.

It’s also entirely possible that Worrell develops into a genuine key defender. His improvement in one on one contests in 2022 was dramatic and he’s 195cm.

Hinge and Dawson are both better options as the “third tall” than Doedee too, as again, they’re both taller than him.

Doedee will continue to be best utilised in an intercepting role where his direct opponent is the 5th most dangerous forward (note: Brodie Smith needs to play on the 6th most dangerous forward if we continue to persist with him back there, because he can’t defend in a phone box), with a max height of 190cm.
