That takes me back. My school formal was going to have a "most likely to be a terrorist" award but thankfully it was scrapped for being a likely source of racist bullshit.

Legit went to high school with a kid called Jihad - at the time it didn't mean anything short of just another odd 'foreign name' - was a bit weird, was the classic kid who's parents pulled him out of sex ed classes and all that, and he was one of those kids with a super work ethic that would spend lunch times with teachers doing extra study - he was supposed to graduate in 2001 with the rest of us but he took the year off because I think he burnt himself out studying so much while working all spare minutes at his family's restaurant - classic immigrant story - I'm so glad he wasn't at school when 9/11 happened with a name like that - I never saw him after it all happened but I can't imagine it's been smooth sailing

I'm with you. At every footy match stupid things are said. Unless it was going on continually, I don't know what security would have done.

Grundy was pretty poor at the start of the year.

Not sure we should take the risk to be honest. Yeah there is great upside, but if his best is past him could be a costly mistake.

Depending on the Cost, a 600K Grundy for 5 years at no cost in Picks would be worth a look. Maybe go as high as 700K if they sweeten the pot more

Winning a B&F shouldn't guarantee you get picked with regular poor form.

We have done the right thing dropping Crouch, but we have allowed ROB to get comfortable with poor output.

3 games as captain without a single mark. Berg took 1 in his 1st game back.

What's most annoying is that after the kick up the arse he turns it on in both SANFL and AFL and then they immediately lower the standard again for him. Wouldn't accept it from a kid, but from a senior player it's ok? Our culture sucks.

If it was reported to a random rent a cop, can easily believe they took no action.

What is the actual policy? Ie if the person said it and reported it, but the security guard didn't hear it him/her self, can / should they actually eject somebody from the ground? I'd be a bit wary of a policy that allows a person to be tossed out based purely on somebody else's say-so - that would be wide open to abuse.

If they notified security and the guard came over and hung around a bit and heard the racial abuse being repeated first hand, then the offender should definitely have been thrown out and the guard has some questions as to why that didn't happen. If the person just said it once, it was reported, but the guard didn't actually hear anything themselves, then just reporting it and letting the investigation handle it is probably the correct course of action.

I've been in the crowd when security has had to be called and usually there is some do-gooder in the crowd that is not part of the group making the complaint but would corroborate it.

If what was said did indeed happen, you would like to think someone who wasn't part of the Carlton cheersquad would have verified it and tossed that person out. But without that corroboration, it is hard for a security person to eject someone on the evidence of one person, or a group of related people.

I believe there are cameras all over the ground on the crowd. Should be pretty easy to review the footage, as they know who complained, who did it and would know at what time. If its a genuine complaint, you should be able to tell by the actions of all parties.
