We could have easily played Worrell and moved Dawson up the ground
Have they explained why they didn't play Worrell for at least another 10 games? The form he's in now was the same form he was in 3 months ago. Its like they were so blinkered in their thinking that Doedee and Worrell can't play together. They need to show some trust in players with minimal games played because Dawson should have been on the wing all year.

It literally is because he sits behind Doedee. Same role. And Doedee isn’t old so you can’t really use play the youth reasoning
As I have said elsewhere, I like Worrells height and size compared to Toms. Hopefully they find a way to play them both

Doedee has been playing injured for 2 months and not very well. We could have played him and anyway, we can move Dawson out of defence and play both

That's what give's you doubts about the coaching group, when supporters can see what needs to happen but the coaches seem blind too it.

Imagine being in the coaches box "move Dawson onto the wing"...

Nicks: "But he's a defender...he'd be lost up on the wing, besides, who'd take the kick outs?...Murphy?...he can't kick for shit, that's why he's delivering the ball inside 50"

I swear, if you'd had a few beers you'd be throwing haymakers in that coaches box.

Reilly v Burns in the box

One for you reminiscing fans………been working in the country, spotted someone shuffling the streets in front… pulled up alongside recognised the old fella had a good chat Rodney Rocket Maynard
I met someone a week ago who is a mate of his. Just moved to Adelaide. Reckons Maynard is still coaching in Pinaroo, but is moving Victor Harbor way next year and will be at home games.
Also told a story of Rocket when playing for the Crows. He lived in Pinaroo, but had a farm 6 ks out of town. Used to run there and back each day.

Got his Pinnaroo and Lameroo mixed up, hasn’t coached for a few years, just gave up umpiring, bought a place down Middleton or close by👍

Kieran Strachan likes this...

What's the consensus? Is Rankine worth our first? Personally I'm not sold. Rather risk it with Phillipou and try to walk Rankine to the PSD hoping our front loaded contract puts west coast north and whoever else finishes below us off.

Yes. Draft picks are massively overrated. It’s a lottery. Young, talented players that are actually wanting to come to your club don’t grow on trees. It’s a no brainer for mine. And the salary cap thing is irrelevant. Who the **** else we paying $$ on our list? Front load the shit out of it.

Get it done.

I think it would be "move Dawson to a wing? So he starts getting 14 disposals instead of 20? So he gets used less because the wingmen need to hold shape, instead of being a quarterback who can set all of our play up from the back half?"

You can go VERY cold playing on a wing and not seeing the ball for long periods. If we want that so he's one later possession in a chain, then sure - but there's a chance he's less impactful, not more.

The mental gymnastics you perform to back club decisions is astounding and sickly and yet you criticise posters who actually use their brain and imply critical thinking.

Let’s look at what 2 better wingers in the competition average:

Amon 23.5
Langdon 21.9

Are you suggesting Dawson isn’t their quality or is he more DMack?

As for his disposal count out of defence, you realise he takes the kick outs right? Most of which go down the line to a pack on the right flank. Hardly getting much value with some of his disposals. Plus he actually has to defend rather than delivering to our forwards.

Not crows related, while on reminiscing, a number of years back i was with a group of people headed up to the back of the hills on a field trip and we went to a working mine. The trip was organised by one of the guys on my course Larry Watson (one of the nicest people you could meet and the older brother of Tim) as a mate of his ran and i think owned it..Neil Hein. Absolute beanpole but really nice fella. Not a place you would immediately associate with ex footy players!!!

First round mids can play AFL from year 1. Tall Defenders and Forwards rarely so get them first so the development windows line up. Now we load up mids and trade in players to cover the misses (McAsey).
I'd love to see the Crows grab a 1st round mid that can play from year 1.
I don't think we have ever done it ?
That's where Soligo has done incredibly well this year to be able to come in, in his first year and play consistent footy

Very very recent. Sam Berry
Chayce Jones

Was Sam Berry a first round pick ?
He has really come on this year though

Very early 2nd. Though very early 2nd in a draft that the first round blew out to pick 26 due to FA compensation and a lot of NGA bids.

Cook was the one who snuck into the backend of round 1 that year.

What's the difference?
He's a mid and played round 1.
Same with Chayce.

I doubt Phillipou plays round 1 if we select him.

George Wardlaw and Jhye Clark I would think would be every chance.

Rankine in a crows jumper just feels right. Are we any chance of getting Horne Francis or is he going to poort?
