Just don't see JHF leaving after only 1 year. Not saying it can't happen, but I'm not aware of it happening (Pick 1 leaving after 1 year) in the last 30 years. And given it's a VIC club losing out / SA club winning, don't see AFL letting that happen.

I think the end of next year is more realistic, but who knows? Getting in Clarkson may sway JHF to be a roo for life !

Because he wasn’t played as a mid from day 1 and is still not a mid.
It’s not an example he was looking for.
Also berry was not a first rounder, perhaps you missed his question?

He’s more of an example than Chayce I reckon.
May have not played mid from day one but has looked comfortable at the level from day 1 and certainly looks a comfortable mid now.
But also not a first rounder.

Jones isn't a mid and has never looked comfortable at AFL level.

A hell of a lot of players drafted as midfielders don't play as midfielders round 1 season 1....Hell, a lot don't play at all round 1 season 1.
Nick Daicos was drafted as a mid but certainly didn't play there, JHF was drafted as a mid but played mostly forward, it'far from unusual.

I didn’t see it as a criticism from the poster, just a question as to if it’s happened before from us.

What I was hoping for was that we use a 1st round draft pick on mid that actually plays midfield, even better if they can do it in their first year.
All our first round mids seem to end up playing less important roles around the ground.
Even Pedlar seems to preferred as a forward at the moment, I wonder if we will see that change.

That's probably what it will cost considering he's a number 1 pick who's only played 1 year, so has 10 years ahead of him. Those first round picks would probably be the range of one mid-range first rounder and one late-range first rounder.
