The Hately talk is truly baffling, when given the opportunity in his correct position he played extremely well and he was unfairly pushed out of that position so they could force Crouch back into the team.

Geez a lot of incorrect takes this morning. In case you missed it both Crouch and Hately spent a fair bit of time in the SANFL, at the same time. They were pushed out because we had Berry, Laird & Keays in there as locks, and they were wanting to give Soligo some rotation time through there as well.

I honestly don't see where Hately fits back into the squad at all. We don't need Hately's physical presence in the contest as our lock-trio do that job fantastically, and Soligo already has him covered for versatility (particularly on the wing) and defensive workrate, which we are sorely lacking.

Didn't we try to give GWS something for Hately and they refused? We tried to pay overs, GWS said no, so we got him for the right price.

Smooth work Crows. 🤣

What? Have you literally created something from the figment of your imagination just to have a whinge at the Crows ?

It is well known that we offered what was generally considered unders for Hately at the time. GWS had a cry about it, and then ran out of time trying to finish the Cameron to Geelong deal instead of taking our offer. So they sent him to to PSD.

He said didn't we offer something and they refused? You have agreed with that.

Then given we offered something more than what we got him for, we clearly offered overs.

Another bad take from you.

Another bad take from you. You really should assess your own posting before criticising others.

Whilst I dont agree that he played extremely well, he played well enough to give a few more games to in the middle.

Instead we moved him to the wing to fit Crouch back in and then stupidly persisted with it even when Crouch was dropped. We then didn't give him another chance in his natural position. Hately was pushed out of the middle before Soligo got meaningful minutes in there.

I agree though I dont see a role for him, but the use of him this year was bizarre. We should have given him a few more games in the middle over Crouch to see how much more he could develop.

?????????????????????????? How many accounts do you have on here?

What kind of jumbled mess is 'We tried to pay overs, GWS said no, so we got him for the right price' ???????

You do realise the mental gymnastics required to ATTEMPT to frame this that the Crows tried to pay overs.

I think you own at least one of the accounts associated with skam85 and Mr_Moogle

To be fair, this doesn't really make sense.

What we got him for was zero (other than the list spot). I guess you can say "any price" was too much, but that wasn't the view at the time, unless you were one of those that said all the way through that we should just push him to the PSD. I don't remember many people actually saying that, though.

The view was that we should pay SOMETHING - what we offered was considered very low, and barely worth GWS time negotiating around. So we got him for zero.

That we got him for zero doesn't suddenly make our earlier offer suddenly "overs" though, unless you think all trades should only be for free.

Tex is captain in my eye. The real on field force and leader.
Yep agree. It's time for a captain to carry the club forward for the next 10 years. If they wheel Sloane out as captain again I will puke. I think it will most likely be Doedee but I see players such as Berry and Soligo as possible future captains in 3 to 4 years.

Someone getting to the psd does not necessarily mean the original offer was overs

Extremely well?

Passable maybe.

Only the one account princess.

If we offered more than we got him for, wasnt the offer overs? It’s just commonsense.

With the obvious benefit of hindsight, I'd say both clubs ballsed up the value judgement. I still think he was worth a punt given he cost no picks so I'm not having a whinge at the club. I just think it's amusing that we offered something that would have been more than fair and only GWS being spiteful ended up saving the trade from our point of view. While trying to dick us over, they actually saved us from ourselves. If you can't have a laugh about that, you must be dead inside.

Is it reported either way that we tried or didn’t try? Genuinely can’t recall

I know Port made the deal to move up with Fremantle quite early in the off-season, so we needed to act swiftly if we wanted to move up
We went in to get pick 3 from the Saints for Rankine by offering 8 and 13 and that is fine but we should have had plan B going in case plan A didn’t come off.

Rather arrogantly we assumed the Saints would see the value of the swap instead of realizing they were all in on King. By time we even thought about plan B, Port had snaffles pick 5 and blocked us. It beggars belief that we didn’t rate Rozee highly enough to try and swap picks to get him .

It speaks volumes about our talent identification that we didn’t notice the good talent was topping out at pick 5 and that we possibly rates 2 guys who if they don’t show something this year should be traded/delisted over an AA player.

In any other business, heads would role over that effort.

I'm still kind of salty that we didn't give Jones another go in the middle later in the year. There was a SANFL game mid season where we were getting done in the middle, and him being moved into the guts is what turned the game on it's head, his strengths were on full display, fast and fit enough to be at every contest and brave and strong enough to impact every contest, he had 5 clearances in that second half.
