In my dreams we could get hold of De Goey.

He's irredeemable and an immense talent.

St Kilda love throwing money at players like that and then having no infrastructure to rehabilitate them.

The Pies are desperate for SC relief. That's cool get rid of your second best player.

Fixed that for you 😉

As I’ve said clearly before I’m a big no on de goey. Suits St Kilda to a tee.

Well there's no hope for us because we can't fit him in.

I don't know whether De Goey will ever be any good for anyone else . Clearly the Pies have doubts and other pressures as well.

I'd be taking the punt myself if I could . If the DD stacked up.

If you were going to smartly take the punt on him as a club for the reported $ and years I think you’d want the sort of good behaviour clauses he has apparently rejected from Collingwood.

Anyway, moot point as I doubt we have the money for him and Dunkley.

I will now consult our resident free agency nerd dlanod.

Do clubs have to match the years and $$$, or do they have the match the contract exactly?
Same contract.

The only thing we can take from that is that someone else is prepared to offer him equal or more without the clauses.

Not to mention their players got stay in their own beds for most of the season as all Vic clubs do. Interstate teams in that era were literally away from home 50% of the season ( well Sydney and Brisbane )
Collingwood paid more in TPP in both years we beat them due to veterans list loopholes. Burns and Buckley had a large proportion of their salaries not included in the salary cap.

I know nothing but recall Bombres being interested in him last contract. They could do with a big name and his Dad played for them.

Rumours on Trade Radio that the Giants are looking to move Nick Haynes on. I have always rated him. How would he go in our backline?

He’s being paid handsomely, but suggested Giants will pay some of his salary.

He'd be a good addition but not sure how we'd bring him in given our current commitments.

I was more thinking about what we could offer in trade - even if Gardiner goes, I don't see him generating much in the way of a return.

Gardiner is an established first team defender and is effectively in his prime. He should generate something.

I feel like we undervalue our players at times.

He would generate something, but if he was getting a contract anything like McStay (which probably only gets us Band 3 anyway) it would've been making news by now. An established first team defender in his prime means nothing to the compensation formula.

I originally thought Dogs might be interested in Darcy but just read they are into Tomlinson and have already got Jones coming. Pies could be a bit thin down back.
