Enjoy unedited audio of a man eating his own words live on radio
See, I don't think he did eat his own words. He still tried to weasel it.

His initial comment was:
BS: "Could Brisbane, I know you talked about points and losing draft picks, could they offer up someone like Cam Rayner".
Immediately asked "Oof, would you trade Cam Rayner?"
BS: "Well, if you need points and you have a stacked midfield..."

Now walking it back:
BS: "If I'm a list manager at another of the 17 clubs, you see where there there's a spillover of talent..."
And the classic "it's not our fault the way it's written up... "

So no, he said we might offer Cam, then changed it to others might want Cam.

Also, interesting and possibly an insight to convo with Ambrogio:
"One thing that we have to remind ourselves is also the mental health of these young men, who, poor players sitting at home relaxing on their breaks, and then someone like me comes on and says, you know, potentially they could be moving."

Read into that what you will. I think Sando might’ve shared more than he should've there.

I just noticed on the main board Trade & Draft thread that Cooper Hodge is eligible as a father/son to the Hawks in the 2024 draft (same year as Levi Ashcroft), anyone know if Cooper is in the Lions Academy?

The three-time Hawk premiership skipper and dual Norm Smith medalist has told the Golden Years podcast that the Brisbane Lions, where he spent the last two years of his playing career and who he continues to serve as a part-time assistant coach, had grown on his family to the stage where his oldest son Cooper, is now a Lions fan.

“Especially when you get to age of 10, 11 and 12, when you get to spend time with the likes of Dayne Zorko, Harris Andrews, Lachie Neale, Charlie Cameron and those sorts of guys, they got him pretty quickly over to the Lions’ side, so at this stage I think he’d be a Lion,” Hodge said.

Cooper turns 12 later this year and while an AFL career seems a lifetime away, he will soon be old enough to enter the Brisbane Lions academy, which means that if he is eventually considered good enough, he could pretty much bypass the draft and be selected by the Lions.

I think Sando stole the idea from Matt Rendall.

Yep, definitely sounds like Ambrogio told him to stop immediately with good reason.

Can’t imagine being in Cams position: by all accounts would think he’s a vital part of the team, loved by the players/coaching staff/fans alike, happy as Larry where he is - only for the media to start selling you off for parts in a trade.

Even if he knew rationally it was bull, there’d still be that part of your mind eating away at the back thinking “but what if they will…”

Very glad Ambrogio got on the front foot early. Have noticed our friend on here who assured us that Rayner was on the table has gone awfully quiet too…

I’m all for the odd experiment but Joe at CHB would be an unmitigated disaster.
Fine then, Eric Hipwood please get to CHB position immediately ;)

Yeah, he has some issues with defending as a forward. All he needs to worry about is getting his shoulder right and playing like he did at the start of this year.

A fit Joe, freed up to roam at times is the go. Needs to get more physicsal in the ruck, but.

Played there as a junior, if my memory serves me correctly.

could you imagine the VFL media's response to the son of Hodge choosing to play for Brisbane. The melts would be extreme

Any thoughts on Tom Berry?
Mentioned GC is into him.
Doesn't seem likely to get many games with Bailey and Rayner probably playing more forward, Lohmann looking good etc..

VFL stats 22 possessions, 5 tackles, 9 goals in 11 games - playing as a mid?

Would he be a more athletic potential Nick Holman replacement?
Unfortunately probably good result for him.

Happy result for both parties tbf though, allows Berry Jr to find somewhere to play regular footy and we have extra spot on our list that we could fill if we wanted to :thumbsu:

Hopefully Berry Jr can find a Best 22 spot at Gold Coast (if true) cause he is a quality young person like his brothers and parents :)

suppose it depend on what end of the ground Gunners wants to play he’s a 40 a year key forward but he could just as easily replace Gardiner at CHB so he’s actually a good pick up at either end of the ground for the Lions 🦁
how do we know that Gardiner has not or is not going to re-sign, I see very little written regarding interest from other clubs. Perhaps with some doubt on Adams, Lions have slightly increased their offer... time well tell
