Order of priorities.
1 kpd
best available logue
2 wings that can run all day.
Best available acres, hill
3 kpf / crumbing forward
best available mcstay, logue, rioli, hill.
That is my best guess.
If we could one of all three categories, it would allow so much more flexibility with our draft choices and we would be able to correct to putrid imbalance of our list.

What is available in the draft is a big factor. I doubt we get a kpd or wingers as 18 year olds that can improve our best 22 next year. A big win from the pp application may change that. But I think we will be trading those types in.

Totally agree and this time around I actually think we can fill most if not all. Think mcstay a done deal at Coll so need to find another tall... need to prise one out... maybe a amartey mcclean or grab gunston for a year or 2 then grab best kpd in draft so gives time for him and chom time to develop.... with all this though... we will struggle to pull in any draftees this year... our first might have to go to Freo for acres Logue their first and something else.... they could then pass that to Mel for Jackson....

The kpfs available for trade are not great imo.
Cadman should be our target in the draft over trading in the spudish types available.
There seems to be decent options around for the other list needs.

Yep agree.

A lot of what we can do will be more transparent once we find out what the PP package will be.

If 🤞 we get pick 2 then it gives us some excellent flexibility to either trade for established players like an Acres & Logue package deal or split pick 1 for a number of picks to target a number of draftees like Cadman, Lemmy and Hewitt whilst still pick up Sheezel with pick 2 (pick 3 with Ashcroft bid).

I agree. It would allow us to the same sort of stability, overlap and list balance that teams like Richmond, Geelong and Sydney have had for a decade +.

It also gives us the opportunity to be creative rather than desperate with our drafting.

I would be making enquiries into gun contracted KPFKPD like King, McKay, Taylor, Barrass. Put a huge offer down and see if you can shake them out.

If we get pick 2 as PP I can't see them passing on the opportunity to draft both Wardlaw and Sheezel

That's a fun game.
If we could get any one player in the league to improve our rebuild, who would it be?
I'd say a young chb.
Not sure who.

My list assessment below. Ratings not based against rest of league, rather talent perspective over the next 3 years.

Delist doesn’t take into account contracts.

I would delist 8 and go hard after some KP re-enforcement back and forward.

Midfield (inc wing) : 8 (3 on bench)

LDU
Simpkin
Cunnington
Thomas
JHF
Powell
Scott
Goater

Next in line: Anderson, Polec, Greenwood

Delist: none

Assessment: A

Looking in good shape. Does not rank high compared to other midfields yet, but stacked with young talent and Cunners there to help them. Exciting.

Ruck: 2 (1 on bench)

Goldstein
CCJ

Back- up: Xerri, Edwards

Delist: none

Assessment: B

Sign Goldstein and in ok shape for now. CCJ will get better and will be a good combo with Xerri by the time Goldy is out. Jacob still a big unknown.

Backs (6)

McKay
Stephenson
Corr
McDonald
Perez
Archer

Back-up: Bergman, Dawson, Young, McGuiness, P.Walker

Delist: Atu, Hall, Bonar, J.Walker, Turner, Hayden

Assessment: C

McKay a shining light and Stephenson very damaging but has a lot of work to do on defensive side. Need another proper KPD, with Dawson to then overtake Corr as the third defender. Perez and Archer promising and Bergman rated.

Forwards (6)

Larkey
Zurhaar
Curtis
Comben
Taylor
*No.1 pick (Sheezel)

Next in line: Ford, Ziebell, Lazzaro
Delist: Mahony, Spicer

Assessment: D

In a world of trouble. Larkey, Zurhaar and Curtis have great talent but depth is non-existent. One gets injured and we are in trouble. Larkey gets injured and we are done for. Comben has potential but injuries and goal kicking a concern. Need a KPF badly.

Its a shame you cant just delist mahony and spicer who are contracted.

it'll be picks or nothing.
We wont be getting additional list spots or soft cap space.
The afl would get zero complaints if we got a few extra rookie list spots.
It's something they can give us with very little blowback.
It does not effect any other club.
We are trying to rebuild with the smallest list sizes in history.
I think we almost certainly get it.
It would most likely end up being used experianced dfas which would be great for us.
Improve the standard of our vfl.

I know this is a dead horse, but would GWS do a salary dump on Kelly. They maybe pay $200-$300k of Kelly's salary and have space for Taranto and others. We could maybe offer up a future 2nd :)

Is there a list available of uncontracted players on our list? Apologies if already discussed.
