11! Belly and Walls are my heroes.

Is it all about winning a flag next year or does trading Lobb give us a greater chance of winning one 2024 onwards?

They're the real questions that need answering here imo.
JLs messaging has consistently about sustained success and Lobb clearly isn't part of that. For me it's easy, he goes as long as the deal is overs. Doesn't have to be 11 overs, but 18- 23 overs. I'll trade some potency next year for better currency for the decade after.

I don't see how we play Darcy, Lobb, Tabs, Jackson and Amiss in the same team anyway.

And Taylor, culture destroying effects notwithstanding, I'd trade one of Fyfe and Walters for the right price too.

Lobb & Norths F2 for pick 11.
We'd need another F2 to do that even if the Dogs were crazy enough.

I doubt we're getting 11, but if we did I'd hope we didn't pick Humphrey. His kicking won't stand up at AFL level.

Hewett will be around there. I'd prefer him by the length of Ascot.
Hewett has an aggressive streak as well, hard as a cats head.
Either Hewett or Allan please if we get a pick in the teens.
Eagles have gotta take Ginbey at 8 ?

Why not also trade Taberner, Fyfe and Walters too? (not seriously asking)

Lobb is our best, most available, forward - we win more games when he is playing.

Lobb & F2 (NorthPP) for Naughton and F2

Now work backwards to find the Value of Lobb. It's more than #21 to us.

what horse shit…who in their right mind would consider that.

at least keep it in the realms of possibility

When the club has said he isn't for trade and it would take the likes of Naughton or Bontempelli (being hyperbolic, granted) to change that, I think it's more realistic to lean towards that direction than Freo signing off on a trade for a token second round pick for Lobb.

If Dunkley trade gets over the line they might have a bit more options to offer!

I think that trade might need Freo to help.

Brisbane want picks coming back, Freo want #11, Dogs want two firsts for Dunkley and don't want to send picks back.

That idea of Freo getting #11 and a F2 for Lobb and #44 works well for us. Dogs get F1 and #21 for Dunkley, Lions pay F1, #21 and swap our North F2 for one or both of Geelong and their own F2

We’re not getting 11 for Lobb. Nor 24 for Meek.

Assuming WB don’t get 21 for Dunkley - which would automatically come to us you’d assume, then 3- way trade:

Lobb, 44 out; 30, 39, f4 in.
Meek, 39 out; 24, 48 in.

Freo
Out: Meek, Lobb, 44
In: 24, 30, 48, f4

WB
Out: 30, 39, f4
In: Lobb

Hawthorn:
Out: 24, 48
In: Meek, 39

3- way trade:

Lobb, 44 out; 30, 39, f4 in.
Meek, 39 out; 24, 52 in.

Freo
Out: Meek, Lobb, 44
In: 24, 30, 52, f4

WB
Out: 30, 39, f4
In: Lobb

Hawthorn:
Out: 24, 52
In: Meek, 39

What advantage does Freo get for giving away two contracted talls who will make a difference for us in 2023 for a handful of picks?

What options do we have if they both leave? If Freo holds them to their contracts then it all becomes null and void. But who else is on the table?

I’d do Meek and 44 for 24 as a stand alone. Hawks won’t like it but meh…
24 gives us a shot at Ed Allan.

then we can screw the bulldogs for Lobb, knowing we’re comfortable in keeping him

Get pick 11, split it into two 20s picks. One for sharp one for draft.

Or

Trade him for two picks in the 20s

Which McDonald?
Logan of course.

Yeah it’s obviously going to be two firsts for a fringe ruck and a 30 year old

All trade values need to be weighed against the value of that player in the side in 2023 and still getting a second or third for Lobb next trade period - a 4th next season for Meek.

Our option is to benefit from them for 2023 and then trade them for picks to pad out next season's draft hand next season.

Lobb particularly would leave too large of a hole assuming Taberner is injured. Playing finals again in 2023 will go a long way to retaining players, Lobb is a step towards that.

Yeah I’m not sure about that.
5 on the bench allows an extra tall, a back rotation and 3 runners
You can play an extra anything with 5 on the bench but not three rucks unless two of them are multiple position.
With two pure rucks (with a third ruck forward) one is still going to have either spend time playing where ineffective or have less tog.
