But would you trade Curtin and Tholstrup to the Eagles in the future, for hReid coming back our way.?

No, you can't plan for that. You take the players you believe are the best.

Bizarre we gave up picks 27+35 to move up 3 spots to only end up stretching for a kid who would’ve been there at pick 14 anyway.

Not really. We weren't going to use those picks anyways, so why not make sure you get who you actually want?

That's assuming we take him and assuming you know for a fact that the other clubs wouldn't take him before 14.

Doubt we’d have any confidence on who would be available when we did that trade.

We would have just had our own big board and known that our preferences dropped off significantly between 11 and 14.

Spot on. Dumb move. I think we did it to have a crack at Reid but it didn't work. I wish we just used pick 27 and 35 at the draft, and pay out Ben Brown and Tmac. It's such a kill joy just to see them running around during pre-season.

Why don't you and your negative Nancy mate wait until the draft is done before continuously potting this.

There is obviously a plan by the professional people we pay to do this job.

Sick of this “we weren’t going to use them anyway” argument Lamb roles out every year.

We could easily just trade the value into 2024 instead of pissing them off for next to nothing. Doesn’t take a genius to see it either.

Watch Lamb come out after the draft and claim whoever we took at 11 wasn’t going to be there at 14 anyway. (Regardless who it is).

Despite Tholstrup sitting around pick 16 to 18 on every experts phantom draft going around.

Taylor likes to trade into drafts not out of them so I can’t see him trading into next year so eagles can get Curtin. Take Curtin if he’s there IMO.

If you want a laugh take a read on WC board who think we would trade 6, 11 and F1 for there F1 and 23 and that they are doing us a favor with the trade.

Don’t understand the logic of trading for West Coast’s next year pick unless they’re going to give us another top 10 pick this year.

When a side wants to trade up on draft night to get a particular player you get to really take them to the cleaners. Pushing our chance to take a top 10 player out until next year is not it.

These highlights against senior WAFL men is seriously very impressive from the kid.

The smother and goal at 2:55 lol

The kick going inside 50 @ 0:50 is what has Goody saying "I cant live without Tholstrup" :tearsofjoy:

Lamb 'roles' that out every year?

Market dictates the value, and if you haven't already picked up on it, this year's draft is considered shallow meaning those picks after 20 or so have less value to what you might normally expect. Doesn't take a genius to see that, just someone who actually has a clue what they're talking about.

Of course Lamb is going to say who we took at 11 wasn't go to be there at 14, that's the whole point of the trade. Why would that serve as an indication of anything other than why we did the trade? Bizarre comment.

Again, you're still assuming we're taking Tholstrup, and you're still assuming phantom drafts are 100% correct. Neither of those things are definitive so you're getting upset over: 1) Something that might not happen 2) A scenario that might not exist based on guesses by media types 3) A clearly stated strategy by the club that absolutely makes sense when you look at the facts around our list numbers.

We don't need more B or C grade 18 year olds, we've got plenty of that in the under 22 age group. What we DO need is top end young talent so we don't fall off a cliff.

None of it is controversial. It all makes absolute sense if you can bring yourself to understand the full context of the situation.

True, and I'm not advocating to do it, just suggesting it could happen.

The other thing is, I think our list space might be different next year to this year, requiring us to go to the draft with more picks, so we might be looking to have more high end picks next year if we can get them.

Plus, with Jackson gone and Petty likely to go, a lot may hinge on the interview the club has with Curtin.

I hope the other clubs aren’t reading that thinking they’ll get the next Errol Gulden. We’ll miss out.
Basically, every small, zippy left-footed midfielder that comes through the draft over the next decade will be compared to Gulden, similar to how every 'explosive' mid-forward with a bit of muscle got compared to Dusty and then Trac.

Where's the creativity? I want to see some players compared to Byron Schammer, Angelo Lekkas and Tayte Pears.
