I just don't get how we can be thinking of giving Reid another contract given his injury history. 32 before the start of the season, constantly injured. Unless it is to move him to a rookie spot?
I completely agree. I mean he's clearly talented but at this stage of our development do you really want to be taking Armarty or McLean out of the side just to play him? If not the only other spot is the ruck and he's clearly shown durability is a major issue with him so putting him in one of the most physically demanding positions won't help that. Whilst yes he would cover for injuries, what are the odds he's fit himself to cover for those injuries?

Surely between Buller, Ladhams and Francis we've got enough coverage for injury up front.

If we're missing out on McKay, let's go all in to get O'Sullivan. If that means throwing our first along with our seconds and whatever we get for Stephens (if he goes) to get GC's 4, then so be it. Or we could throw our pick 11 with a second rounder for the Cat's 7, although with GC matching bids, that will end up around pick 10. O'Sullivan could be gone by then but Murphy might be available.

The reporting only says they are front runners, nothing confirmed. The same reporting has Grundy Sydney bound with more confidence.

Brodie Grundy has been won over by Sydney’s life-style and work-life balance pitch, compared to Port’s football-heavy presentation
• Essendon are now favourites for Ben McKay, ahead of Sydney and Hawthorn

Sources indicate the club believes they need some experience in the the team due to our young age profile. When fit he's easily best 22.

Yep, Swans quietly confident but the proviso is - IF they can get a deal done with Melbourne

Brodie Grundy was won over by a Sydney pitch about his lifestyle and work-life balance in the Harbour City compared to a football-heavy presentation from Port Adelaide.
Just as Franklin was lured north by the idea of escaping the footy bubble – and to be closer to partner Jesinta – Grundy is keen on the Sydney lifestyle.

Sydney spoke to him about the ability to have a life away from football, with partner Rachel also able to move her work as a physio working in intensive care and emergency units.
He has never wanted to live and breathe footy, and after a huge two seasons of publicity heading to somewhere like Sydney is the perfect remedy.

This bit here though is our blocker: If Grundy requests a trade, who do Melbourne fall back on as a replacement given they won’t trade him unless they have a back-up ruck for Max Gawn?

I like this pitch.
For whatever reason, we should be laser focused on talented players who are fed up with the media fishbowl in Melbourne.

And elsewhere …

Do we send them Ladhams?

I'm hoping the Dees have their eye on Jordon Sweet from the Dogs. Who has yet to put pen to paper, this is why I'm thinking our first will have to go to the Dees - who can then give something to the Dogs who will then bundle it up to get pick 4.

You heard it here first:winkv1:

Power have to be out of Grundy race now.

Brandon Zerk-Thatcher and Ratugolea both requested trades there.

Have to hold first next year after the JHF trade so will have very very limited collateral for a trade.

That may be the case but the problem is "when fit" doesn't seem to apply to that many games. Since being drafted he has only played 22 games 5 times out of 14 seasons. There is a history of injuries with him that is unlikely to improve the older he gets. If he gets injured and is out for another season I would be filthy if we have him taking up a list spot that we made need for injury cover.

Can we do what GWS did with mummy and get him on staff and then he can just decide that he wants to play midseason? I don't know the details of how that ended up going down.
