In all seriousness, Twomey's report is bizarre. Stating there has been zero indication from Melbourne they would want to move him, nor from Oliver himself that he'd want to move.

Other clubs considering what it would take to trade for him - isn't this just basic due diligence?

I'd be happy to do logan for oliver. Imo we would utilise more of olivers talents/ability compared to logan. I don't think oliver leaves melbourne though, especially not after one injury interrupted season while still in a premiership window.

What do you put it down to, I say it's luck.
Agree there’s a lot of luck involved.
Firstly the ex players have to have kids.
Then they have to have boys.
Then they have to have suitable physical attributes.
And most importantly, they have to be very coordinated and be excellent footballing prospects…. all in all, the odds are stacked against top F/S picks coming through 🤷‍♂️

click bait. he read or got passed on the info from bf forums then knew it was an easy way to get clicks.

Burying the lead. Clubs wouldn't inquiry unless they feel Melbourne may think of selling.

Clearly something going on in the Oliver camp not being reported

Draft Picks before Trade Period: 11, 23, 31, 41, 50

The numbers expose Sydney’s glaring area of need: the engine room. The Swans ranked 17th for clearances, 15th for centre clearances, 14th for contested possessions and 14th for points from clearances – the latter being the most important metric of all. In spite of this they still made it into an elimination final. The acquisition of starved ruckman Brodie Grundy along with the possible recruits of free agent James Jordon [and Paddy Dow] in the trade and free agency period will help fill the midfield void – especially with the lack of midfielders available in this draft. Sydney is unlikely to move its first pick and will consider taking a key defender, another area that they need to address after missing out on targets Ben McKay and Tom Barrass, with developing interceptor Ollie Murphy one with appeal at that range in the draft. The Swans also have second and third round picks (23 and 41) tied to Hawthorn, but they may only take two or three selections in the national draft with list spots tight. They have been known to pick players with versatility, which could bring swingman James Leake and speedster Harry DeMattia into play at their first two picks that will be pushed out by bids. Swans Academy prospect Caiden Cleary, a hard-nosed clearance winner, has impressed the club with his improvement this year and may attract a rival bid in the back-half of the draft.

Moving Oliver on would make sense if Demons ended up with Harley Reid, another top 5 pick plus another first rounder...he mightn't be worth all that but it would create a bidding frenzy...Demons are up to something big whatever happens...

What's your definition of untouchable?

If West Coast pick up the phone and offer Oscar Allen for McLean are you turning that down?

If we call Geelong and offer Gulden for Stengle do they hang up?

Not a chance.

There is hardly a player in the league who is untouchable. Daicos is the closest thing.

The only thing contracts do is give clubs the opportunity to haggle for a better deal.

that's an extremely generous offer but i'm not sure it benefits anyone regarding a trade

I would say Gulden is pretty close to as untouchable as they come.

Close.

I do think there would be teams that would be able to offer deals that would make us agree rather than keep an unhappy Gulden. West Coast could easily make an overwhelming offer for Gulden if he asked to be traded there.

At the end of the day, most clubs (aside from Essendon) are pretty pragmatic, and will listen to offers for players who want to leave.

For non-performance-enhancing drugs, the AFL currently has a "three-strikes" policy, under which only the player and the club doctor are aware of any positive tests until a third such test is received. After the third strike, the club is made aware of the situation and the player may face disciplinary action.

So if a player had two strikes then the club wouldn’t know in theory.

Thanks for the info Olian. So in theory, if a player has two strikes a club can trade him away - the new club has no idea of the strikes - and boom, a third strike becomes a world of hurt

I don’t have McLean as an untouchable anyway some do here but he’d be in the “it would need to be good but right price”. Stengle wouldn’t be an untouchable for Geelong.

Honestly the untouchables for us personally would be:

Gulden
Warner
Mills
McDonald
McCartin
Rampe
Parker
Blakey
Papley (would consider in an Oliver trade)
