Oliver swap for Heeney would do both players well. I think Heeney needs a fresh start and Oliver would be an upgrade. Throw in a next year's second rounder to sweeten.

Dees get a forward / mid and we get a mid we badly need.

I'm sure this will be received well

We would need to give a first not a second to sweeten that at least

Hamling in for nothing is a good move. Can come in and play a role for two years while we develop another key back. Win-win.
As long as we draft that KPD too. Still, 17 WAFL games (incl a finals series) and 4 in seniors this year, means he should be available most weeks.

We'd have, assuming full fitness:

TMac
Rampe
Melican

Hamling
Francis
Arnold (if extended)
Edwards
Draftee

I doubt there'll be a week where all are fit and firing, so you'd probably need to rotate 1 player around the ground in VFL, but that's possible with Francis, Edwards and a draftee like ZZ. It's only for a year, where we'd then likely cull one or two of Melican, Francis, Arnold, Edwards.

31 would be the bare minimum

42 is just being silly.

More than what was traded last year. I think it will be something like

31+ F3 for Grundy +F4.

Basically 31 plus downgrade in the future next year to sweeten it.

"There is a belief that given Schache was preferred to dual All-Australian Grundy in the Melbourne’s best 23, and the Demons need the dual All-Australian’s salary off their books, that their bargaining power is minimal.

A pick as low as No.31 or 42 is likely to get that [Grundy] deal done."

It's a growing rumour but why would he leave Melbourne? His family lives in Victoria, his wife owns a business based in Melbourne, he appears happy.
Why would any put credence into a twitter account created this year? Until we get something from a verified media account we're treating it as rubbish.

The Western Australian saying 2 hrs ago he has been offered an extension at Freo. Herald Sun saying he has asked to be traded to Sydney. If true He is an insurance policy for Melican's fitness nothing more.

i always rated him but i haven't followed his recent progress
not sure i'd trust the herald sun either, but who knows ... seems the silly season has become the fckng stupid season

Yep he’d be better depth than Francis who would become a break glass type option back there

Freo offered him a one-year deal, but he wants security, and is willing to move. Heard our deal could be 2 years, with a trigger for a 3rd.

Here's the link to the Herald Sun article for those who know how access.

In the meantime here is the out takes:
  • Uncontracted Fremantle defender Joel Hamling, who played in the Western Bulldogs’ 2016 premiership side, has attracted strong interest from the Swans.
  • Swans can offer Hamling greater security and simply sign him as a free agent
  • Carlton midfielder Paddy Dow is also expected to sign with St Kilda despite reported interest from Sydney.

This makes 2 Free agents we are targeting. Jordon & Hamling
