My god, I just found out Freo signed Fyfe for 2 more years.

Thus continuing Freo’s proud tradition of comically bad list management clangers.
On par with us when we signed Grundy., Jack , Macca , Tippett , Richards and Franklin for 1 year to many.

2 year deal to rampe also

Which of those would you say were mistakes at the time of the extension? I.e. didn't look like contributing much the following year, but we still extended them. Rather than still decent, extended, then dropped off in their last year.

I forget whether Jack finished off a multi year deal, or was given 1 year when already looking done. I was more frustrated that we kept playing him (farewell aside). The others were understandable.

If Fyfe had played out the year well, maybe a 1 year extension. Different to the others.

That's the job of the club. They see these players every day, how they train, how they recover. Us as fans saying whether a player should go on or not is largely guesswork, but clubs have all the data, eye tests, relationships from the players to make calculated decisions .

Every club has players that drop off suddenly or have career ending injuries in their final year. That's a sport problem, not a Swans problem.

The difference with these guys, well most of them, was that they were playing reasonably well still, without long term injury and form concerns, when they were extended for a final year. Pretty sure some just finished up longer deals anyway, so there was no final year extension.

Fyfe is different. Has been battling form and injury for years. Why you would extend for 2 years before season's end IDK. That's the club making a mistake.

Seems like when other clubs do it, it's terrible list management, when swans do it it's fantastic and spreading money out

yep will just let them be vfl on field coaches🤣

IMO if someone outside of Collingwood and Port doesn't win the flag this year they'd be filthy. Worst quality season I can remember and they've been the two best sides by a mile. Would be like our recent chokes on steroids

2017 Richmond are the 'worst' premiers in recent years imo.

Sydney and Adelaide were the two best teams by far, and I thought GWS and Geelong were better teams that year as well.
