2017 Richmond are the 'worst' premiers in recent years imo.

Sydney and Adelaide were the two best teams by far, and I thought GWS and Geelong were better teams that year as well.

Sydney scored 39 points in their final against Geelong ....

Adelaide should have taken the flag absolutely , but Richmond got form when it mattered (and played at home a lot)

Yeah but we had won 15 of the last 17 before the final.

Definitely believe at least a couple of umpires are corrupt and gambling on games. Happened in a league as prominent as the NBA, so it could happen to us.

I'm also a believer that umpires are under instructions to keep games close in an unofficial way.
So easy to manipulate games in AFL because the rules are so unclear and can change from game to game, umpire to umpire, from minute to minute.

I think you are right about keeping games close too, but they also have agendas about which teams " need a lift" or "need to be punished".

IMO if someone outside of Collingwood and Port doesn't win the flag this year they'd be filthy. Worst quality season I can remember and they've been the two best sides by a mile. Would be like our recent chokes on steroids
Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Brisbane or (and it sickens me to say this) the Bravedogs won.

The best doesn’t always win.

By way of evidence I present the fact that Lewis Taylor beat the Bont to a Rising Star award. And of course the Bravedogs 2016.

So whats wrong with 1 and then the club has the option , he's not 25
My god you too??? So, one more time.....
We have absolutely no idea on list management, salary cap, trade targets etc, etc, so therefore how do you know it's not a strategic move for any of the above reasons?
Rampe has shown great durability throughout his career and as I have said before, even if his form drops off a cliff, he would be a brilliant leader for our VFL side.

Playing in the VFL team is totally different to 2 year extension , my god you as well

The suggestion is that instead of paying Rampe $400-500k in 1 year, you can pay him that over 2 years, thus freeing up money in 2024 to front-end someone we're trying to trade in or retain. Also keeping in mind we may have Paddy's salary to cover, but also needing an additional player next year.

My point, and one that has been made ad nauseam on here and that you are choosing to ignore, is that the two year contract COULD very well have something to do with salary cap restrictions.
The thing is WE DON'T KNOW WHY HE WAS SIGNED FOR TWO YEARS, SO CONSTANTLY COMPLAINING ABOUT IT IS SENSELESS.

WHERE DID I COMPLAIN , I JUST SAID WHAT MY VIEW ON IT WAS ! ffs

And for all we know. The contract may be commensurate with the risk of the player at a certain age. For example, they may be paying him 450 first year and 300 the second.
