Daz..next off season you should do your version of once upon a time in Hollywood ...;)

Id be happy to see Scratcher get a game against Freo... if giving Jez a rest is what is required.

Lloyd... no LAppin on KROCK pre game said Menegola could have played if needed.
Tehy held him back for knee preservation - his knee has to be managed going forward in temrs of load and overuse and that he could have played but they are playing the longer career game with him and he should play next week.

Whether you agree with the management perspective is up to you - but thats the explanation.

Thanks for the update, Daz.

This is entirely understandable, on one level. From another perspective, it's surely incredibly worrying. He's played three games at VFL level so far and he's already deemed worthy of a rest. That surely rings massive alarm bells about what we can expect from him in terms of continuity in the future.

4 VFL games - rounds 14, 15, 16 & 17, and we need to remember this is likely a degenerative knee injury that will require management throughout the remainder of his career and could potentially have an impact on things post career

He had knee surgery in 2019 on a cartilage issue and was restricted to just 12 senior games. He played just the 7 senior games last year as he dealt with a knee complaint, at least 2 seperate concussion incidents and then had further knee surgery after the season

He got thru the hit out against Hawthorn in Feb but due to knee soreness it was back to the surgeons

I'm not surprised they chose the managed option on the weekend after a month back playing, maybe just more of a surprise he was an emergency when we could have gone with a kid like Knevitt & really allowed Sam the weekend off and then back into it this week

If the rumours of Cameron carrying a shoulder injury that requires surgery is true, then we are in a world of trouble.

That will be post season surgery it wont be now so it doesnt affect us until then.

Its late career pat rafter i think. His knee only has a certain amount of games left and we are trying to eke out what we can in case the afl side needs him.

It 100% affects us right now if he is playing with a bung shoulder.

Yes and no.
It affects the quality of his output yes.
But my point was theres no chance of us putting him in for surgery now we wont do it until years end.

I think that's the reason Footy_Fan2007 means when he says we are in trouble.

Just that Jez likely won't click back into being the best player in the comp whilst injured... If he is fit and it's a form thing, it can come back... but not if he is truly carrying a bung shoulder... Trouble.

In terms of “carrying a shoulder” my first guess would be possibly goenohumeral joint instability.

Reason i say that is because if it was something more along the lines of a rotator cuff tear he wouldnt be playing due to risk of it being made worse, likewise for a clavicle fracture.

So when i look to the bracket of it cant get worse i probably take a fair stab at it being that

Injury update:

  • Rohan almost got up for Lions, expected to be right for Freo.
  • Clark will start running in 2 sessions time and has been coaching in the VFL.
  • Guthrie has starting ramping up his workload and started kicking the footy. He'll start to be involved in part training with the team.
  • Bews Test for this week

Anyone know what's wrong with Brucey Willis?

Was hoping he might have had a taste of senior footy by now after a promising start to the VFL season, but he hasn't been seen in the VFL for weeks and is never mentioned on the club's injury video.

Maybe we have to ask that kid in The Sixth Sense.

No-one else seems to know.........

Maybe part of his contract was an agreement that he could holiday during the second half of the season

I think Neale is a keeper for the long term but with the ankle injury and all of the football he missed you had better check on the AFL rules on playing with an assistance dog to help him find the ball before you think about playing him.

Just saw that, and Guth was the big one. Said he wasn't far off, and we may get him back before the end of the season - which would be massive for our midfield group if/when we make Finals.

Does "2 sessions time" (Clark's timeline) mean two weeks? Or something else?

Good chance we get 3 games out of Guth before finals. I am assuming he goes straight back into AFL team - although he has been out a long time.

Who knows how long it will take him to find the pace of the game. But we just have to try and integrate him back ASAP

Good to see us this number dropping for us

Look at Collingwood. Wow

Hawks and CGS more about the fact they don’t have any experienced players!

Next least injury is Brisbane

Again Adelaide and Sydney are quite young lists and then you have Port and then Melbourne - top 4 team

Carlton the interesting one as that has just happened - so I expect their run to be over?

If we get Rohan, Bews and Guth back quickly we all of a sudden get down to 120 games missing (with 105 of those back up Ceglar - so really down to Collingwood’s level from best 22. Indeed Ceglar might not be injured - just on holiday with Willis - per Cats_09)… which frankly means no excuse then?

This is what we got to last year - albeit a little earlier. The “injuries“ we had in 2022 back end week to week was to cover up arrogance of managing too many. Basically had full list. In 2 weeks (maybe 3) we could be in the same position - question is whether too late to gel together. I can see why the MC will not at all be giving up on this team coming from 5th or 6th. We could (if no injuries from here) have a full list with only one player out from last year..
