Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

Nah, Murray was a 2021 SPP pick. Pretty sure he picked up Talia list spot.

Doedee was who we replaced Keath with. Of course Keath replaced Doedee initially as he got struck down by an ACL.
Doedee replaced lever not keith.

as a roaming interceptor in defense type..

thats all lever was when he played for us.. at melbourne he’s finally managed to add kpd type defending to his game..

doedee never has.. everytime we’ve tried to use doedee as a lockdown defender its ended in tears.

$550k or so? I think they got a pretty good deal, which they maybe deserve considering they were taking on some risk around his body.

Doedee was drafted in 2016, has only played 51 games, and has now suffered an ACL injury to both knees

i find it hard to believe that any club would offer him 5 years at $600k per season

Lever is 6’5”. Doedee is 6’2”. We’re the idiots for even trying Dude as a KPD.

Wrong.

He was drafted in 2015 and has played 82 games.

The other points are correct though.

Greenwood, Keath. We have previous form.
We are in a position to play hard ball, a late pick or late pick swaps are of no use to us as they are unlikely to be used, so we may as well just say no way and make it clear we would take him in the PSD before them. Then it's up to Melb to offer better or he prob ends up at Nth or Eagles.

Sam mitchell= basket case.

Good footballer but not very smart.

Hawks are desperate for any key position players.. as they only have 2 decent ones & their captain would be best suited as q 3rd tall defender rather than CHB.

Who is going to let SYL know...

Hello, I am wondering if you are Happy for Elliott Himmelberg to leave?
What sort of pick would you want?
Also, is he a better player than Lachlan Keefe?
Doubt we will release Berg unless we land another trade in like Choi.

Something like a future 3rd will get it done.

His best is better than Keefe, but more inconsistent.

Reckon he would benefit from a change of scenery.

I think we got Murray when we realised McAsey was a spud
If we took Murray at pick 6 & McAsey in the PSD, it would be slightly more bearable...

Will end up being a 2024 2nd.

After the Doedee compo, 2023 picks will be pretty much useless we bundle them up to move up.

Think he needs a change of environment.
I think we did him a disservice after 2020 when he seemed to come good, not getting him to start the year but start with Billy. After that he was never playing like he had a spot but had a spot to lose, a bad couple of games had him resigned to the inevitable.

At best we could expect a third rounder but seriously, we couldn't let him go if we don't get some talls in ourselves, we are light on

Don't know if he is better than Keefe, don't think he's worse

Yeah I agree 2023 picks will be worthless to us, sounds like Melbourne's a fair way off at the moment but I'd hope commen sense will prevail in the end when the posturing is over. 2024 2nd sounds about right.

Windsor looks really good too imo. Can't go wrong with either him or wilson.
Wilson well ahead of Windsor for mine, but that’s only because I rate Wilson as a genuine top 5 prospect

If we stay at our current pick, I wouldn’t be against taking Windsor at all, provided there’s no sliders. Mitch Edwards, WA ruckman, is the other I’d be looking at

I recall there being talk of triggers, but I don't think the AFL counts those in their compo calculations either.

The league definitely doesn’t count triggers, no matter easy to achieve

Interestingly in its salary cap calculations the NFL does take account of any trigger that it seems likely to be achieved

So you can’t hide payments away under non-guaranteed if the league, looking at last performance etc seems them probable

No, I think $650k is band 2.

It may have got to that with triggers, but I don't think it was that high in his guarantee.
Going by what Barrett reported it was somewhere in the $600-650K range of guaranteed income

Barrett went on to say the incentive bonus's where 'easily achievable' and would push his income into band 1 range

He didn't say what the incentive bonuses related too. Number of games played based on his injury history? Behaviourial? Ranking in the clubs B&F? Brownlow votes? Etc

I remember the reports - I just don't see how that lines up with what actually happened, which was band 3 compo. I think that tells reasonably clearly what he must have got.

My assumption with those reports is that the salaries are always lathered with mayo, because it's the player agent leaking it and they want everyone to think they've done a spectacular job.
