Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

GC pretty much already have enough points to match all three of their academy guys as it stands though.

at this point they would be more keen to shift some more capital into next years strong draft..

take pick 14 and and one of the 2024 priority end of first round picks off north for pick 10..

then they could trade 14 to the crows or someone else for a couple of seconds if they still wanted to grab more points for this year..

thats what anyone with half a brain would do..
Do they have enough?

After hearing Gold Coast Cameron say that Hollands has spoken to them about moving but Carlton haven't and GC from his feedback are ok for him to move so why aren't Crows having a red hot go with one of many 2 nds as believe worth a shot .

Maybe because we’re not interested? Why do you think it is

We wont get 10 with just some second rounders.

we’ll need to use our f1..

dees and north are also looking at getting pick 10 from the suns.. and they both will probably offer a first rounder (they have picks 13 and 14 respectively) then add a second rounder to it..

north will probably use some of their pp from next year to get it done.
if we use our f1 we are dumb despite what they might ask

22 and 25 is pick 8 in points

we should be trading our f1 for another first rounder this year

Do they have enough?
first 5 picks give them 3697 points.

Matching pick 2 with 20 % discount is 2014 points.

matching pick 5 with 20 % discount is 1502

pick 10 is 1116

(2, 5, 10 is an indicative choice based on PMBangers' mock.)

This would need 4632 points to match the first 3.

So…

BUT

we should be trading our F1 for another first rounder this year?..

not sure that makes sense..

And if they change 10 into 14 and a 2024 end of first round PP off north..

Does 14,17,30,36,60,64,69,72.. get them the points?

no, changing the 10 to 14 gives them 234 less points. adding in 64, 69, 72 adds 169.

An ideal outcome for us would be some kind of three way deal with GC and the Dees that gets all the McAdam, Burgess and pick 10 and 17 trades out the way at once. All three clubs have a shit tonne of points this draft

But unfortunately North have the better hand (courtesy of the AFL) with those three late first round compensation picks. Like others I don’t think trading our F1 in a midfield heavy draft would be wise

234 fewer. Sorry for bad English.
So.. if they swap 14 and 2024 pp for 10 with north..

then swap 14 and burgess with us for 19, 21 and maybe what we get for the mcadam trade…

they can crab their way down the draft order moving capital into 2024 at the same time..

they can also, if need be, take the gamble to see if a couple of their academy players slide a few spots… and if by chance they dont.. they can simply go into deficit next year which might drop their R1 pick only a couple of spots..

Yep, if Welsh is tracking like a high draft pick we do what Gold Coast and WB are doing now and trade to protect ourselves

Values Burgess as pick 29.

That compo shit for north is a conplete and utter joke.

This tracking maybe shouldn't be assumed. Moir was tracking as top 3 12 months go. Hope he is of course, and insurance might be useful.

If push came to shove, would we do this?

19 + 22 + 25
for
10 + 36

The only way that Melb or NM could really beat us out is by adding a future pick to the pairs of picks they own in the top 30 this year

I still hope if we have an early 20‘s pick left over, and Moir is still on the board, that we take a punt on him.. you dont lose class, skill and x-factor like talent…

he’s just lost confidence.. could be a very good smokey.. was touted as a potential top 5 pick for a bit..

there was a rumour the pies might get him with their first but now they have targeted that freo lad… not so sure..

We would need to swap 25 for something else first…

we cant trade it to the Suns..

I'd do it as pick 36 might get the project ruck and we get 2 pretty decent cracks inside the 1st round

Yes we can as it's soft drat trade year than when we received it
