With this year in the books, and finals really being the minimum next year, Got to have a crack at Cox. won't cost us much. Besides midfield, our defence is what has really cost it for us this year, really got to address it. I know we got a few good kids coming through, but a player like Cox really fast tracks the development of this defence, and it really sets him as the leader down back which we don' really have.

Max, Cox, Woz
Hinge, Murray, milera.

jeez thats special. Would also say Keane is great, he should be next in infront of butts and Borlase.

I haven’t watched a lot of cox.
How good is he? Does he rebound or lockdown?
What’d he cost in a trade?

Let’s get a little PlayStation (or port list manager mode…)

9+ 23+ McAdam for Cox + 21 + 40
(23 for 21 means we don’t have GC pick and can trade it back to them)

21, 23, 26 (Doedee band 3), 40 (2948 points) For GC 4 (2034 points)

If Doedee is band 4 that’s about pick 40 so that package is 2665 points.

If it’s too much, GC throw in a F3 or pick 40 from Freo is a F3 instead

cox is a very good lock down, but does more. #4 in the afl this year for spoils, averages 2.3 Intercept marks this years which is #35, #12 in contested marks, averages 6.2 intercept possessions a game, and has a contested defence loss % of 21.4%, which is lower than the likes of Allir, BZT, Balta, Ballard.

LOVE THIS! maybe would get ride of himmelberg>Mcadam.

would also suggest there will be a Scholl Trade, Maybe Butts, Mchenry, Berry (I beg not)

Just going based on macadam being OOC and from WA and a player I suspect could add some value to feel.
really that pick 40 could be gotten a number of ways as I suspect the doc trade holds up on its own relatively ok?

I would love a ROB trade. Maybe we can get a pick around 35-45 for him. Bring Grundy in for him. I doubt he would cost any picks as Melb want to offload his salary. We could still get Collingwood to pay whatever they are paying now.

You serious?
Cox is contracted until 2024 and then a RFA.
He ain't coming cheap!

I think the only thing that may sway them is playing for a top 4 team and chance of a flag. They'd probably leave after they won a flag

When Tasmania enters they will almost certainly finish bottom 4 for many years.

If we take a Tassie kid and don't play them or can't deliver results I don't see why they'd stay with the windfall they'd get joining the new team
If GC and GWS are any guide .....these kids are going to get a bucket of money to play for Tassie .....that's pretty enticing over the possibility of a flag

We've seen with Cricket ....money rules

We would demand your first round pick at the very least, and I don't think even that would be enough. Valued very highly here and we have little KPD depth ready to go.
And yet ....you want to trade him

reckon he improves us a fair bit. All depends on cost, which I think will be more cap based than draft pick.
Isn't Grundy 30 next year ? ....unfortunately I believe the Club will see other areas, as having a greater priority

can do more than 1 thing at a time. Grundy won't cost us much outside of cap, meaning we can still look at getting best mid available with our first. If you think we're about to contend, improving ruck immediately is very important.

We're quite tall in defense, Nank hasn't really impacted many games with the opportunities he's been given so far, Parnell is better by foot (well, he was earlier in the season, not great recently) and probably helps us set up better on the rebound.

Personally, I wouldn't have run with either, and if I did I would have gone Nank. But it's not a massive injustice or anything.
Parnell is not better by foot under pressure and thats all that counts

I don't disagree, Grundy would be better than ROB .....he seems pretty set on staying in MELB though

That said ....SYD now don't have a RUCK, with Hickey's retirement 🤔

I thought he looked really sharp. Made good decisions and was dangerous by foot. Didn't get a whole lot of it though.

Definitely not soft either. Not sure if you're trolling there
Definitely not trolling. Dont rate him at all. Last night he was absolutely shocking. Go back watch it again.

Freo can either cash in now for cox, or he goes for nothing next year. Plus freo are in serious need of draft cap
RFA, so we can match and get something. Also we'll have minimal list turnover this year because last year we lost a lot. Also invested enough in the draft in the past few years that we don't care all that much for picks, hence why we traded out two firsts for Jackson. We've got the youngest and least experienced list the year after Hawthorn.

And on top of all that, I'm not conviced he actually wants to move back home.

He’s had an ok year Re ROB , horrible last night .. Grundy is better but does it make us win many more games compared with getting a better midfielder for example

Maybe

Most of our losses due to poor execution forward or letting midfield get on top for half hour and conceding 5+ consecutive goals

Does Grundy help solve that … maybe

Port are more in desperate need for Grundy than us
ROB was horrible last night but ironically it was the first time hes taken three or more marks all year. Im all for getting someone else but it wont be grundy.
