can do more than 1 thing at a time. Grundy won't cost us much outside of cap, meaning we can still look at getting best mid available with our first. If you think we're about to contend, improving ruck immediately is very important.
I reckon he will cost a 2nd rounder , pies are paying some wage , melb some more

Maybe he costs nothing though if we cover all the melb part of wage , does that prevent us getting other things ? maybe not as we don’t seem to have many options with trades this year

Starting to think it could be a decent idea , still not priority

I don't disagree, Grundy would be better than ROB .....he seems pretty set on staying in MELB though

That said ....SYD now don't have a RUCK, with Hickey's retirement 🤔

there is that, but after being injured and playing 2s, he might reprioritise what matters most to him. And I expect Port will go harder, we tend to be happy with whoever we have contracted. Only Betts and JJ were pushed out contracted.

Yeah ...we haven't been known to trade contracted players ...unless the player (McGovern & Charlie) have demanded so

Possibly but I've seen them both live this year and Nanks capability on the G showed me he will make it. Parnell meh
You're moving the goalposts here....disposal was the discussion and until Parnell's concussion it wasn't even close.

We should be throwing the kitchen sink at parish.
A lot of ESS supporters would gladly pack Parish's bags .....there's plenty of replacements for a Mid role; Hobbs, Martin, Langford and Perkins ....all better ball users

Will Elliott Himmelberg train and focus on being a key defender?

RFA, so we can match and get something. Also we'll have minimal list turnover this year because last year we lost a lot. Also invested enough in the draft in the past few years that we don't care all that much for picks, hence why we traded out two firsts for Jackson. We've got the youngest and least experienced list the year after Hawthorn.

And on top of all that, I'm not conviced he actually wants to move back home.
you have the youngest list?????? really?!

Not list. We have a few 30+ guys in the WAFL like Colyer, Hamling, Wilson, Taberner and injured Fyfe still on our list. But our average age this year for our 22 was youngest after hawthorn i'm pretty sure, or at least in the bottom four youngest. We definitely were the least experienced team after hawthorn though, that I'm certain on.

He’s had an ok year Re ROB , horrible last night .. Grundy is better but does it make us win many more games compared with getting a better midfielder for example

Maybe

Most of our losses due to poor execution forward or letting midfield get on top for half hour and conceding 5+ consecutive goals

Does Grundy help solve that … maybe

Port are more in desperate need for Grundy than us

I dont think the little currency that would be required to get Grundy is going to affect our ability to get a better midfielder.

Hell Brodie Grundy at the peak of his power is another midfielder almost!

Does peak Grundy exist anymore?
You would like to think so, and not just because I'm sitting here dreaming of him playing for us.

Spent his last few years at Collingwood as part of a bit of a trial and error ruck merry go round combo with Cox and Cameron, as well as 2022 being a write off with injury. Goes to Demons in '23 with big expectations that the Gawndy combo is going to dominate the comp and it doesnt, and is frustrated still playing out of position.

I reckon he'd be pretty keen to get to a new team and take the solo ruck mantle and prove to the competition he's still one of the best getting around.

Why deal with ROB's frustrating performances for another 3-4 years, when for a measly pick in the late 20-30s with a supposed shallow draft and some cap space, you could take the punt on a prior no. 1 ruck in the comp.

ROB is okay and its not the end of the world if we continue with him, but I see very little risk in acquiring Grundy, and a hell of a lot of reward if he recaptures even 90% of his AA form.

The only reason I can see is whether they wanted to see where Parnell was at

Possibly to be traded

In a football sense maybe there was something defensively Nank wasn’t doing but surely you’d give him another shot last night to see if he could take the feedback then execute it so I don’t think it’s that

Sanfl qualification ? Would he have played too many AFL games in the back end of the season?

On O'Brien, credit to him that his kicking is much much better than it use to be. If he can work a lot on his goal kicking with Tex next year could be interesting.

An option is to use O'Brien a lot more up forward. The lump has great hands and can clunk far better than most, a bit like Casboult. He also has an enormous tank that could run defenders into the ground.

Thilthy goes full on ruck and we effectively swap them

Start of the year you were 16th - Adelaide 17th and Hawks 18th for games played. Freo we’re 14th for age

Is he really that good? You know he wants 6 years on 800-900k. Essendon offered him 5 and he has rebuked them. Pass for mine.

Statistically he would be awesome

3rd Ave disposals
1st for centre clearance
Equivalent kicking efficiency and metres gained to Petracca, Oliver and the other top mids
6th for contested possies
Top 20 for ground ball gets

It’s pretty impressive. And yet he still feels a little meh. Lacks a bit of pace and scoring ability
