Hello Dockers fans!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Yes but it is Wallsy. Beginning to think he’s not the sharpest tool.
Whoever does the negotiations is **** when our players are OOC, that's hard to argue with. We generally do ok with in contract players. Expecting to get bent on Henry and to do about right for Schultz.

The good thing is, I am almost as confident they'd pick someone decent at 33 as I am at 21.

See your point and we should threaten saints about sending Henry into Hawks arms in the PSD. But we won’t.

Most are saying now (after realising Shultz is a gun and that his stats are Papley levels) that a late first is a steal. So if we agree to 19 and or a future 1st which be a high teens pick…we will still lose out. He is borderline elite FP and there goes another Medhurst story.

I think the Henry deal will be based around Dylan Stephens. The future 1st being worth slightly more than 21. So the pick upgrade will be much smaller. Saints aren’t stupid, they can’t walk Henry to the PSD.

A colleague of mine son was interviewed by a number of clubs and said Freo were the toughest club to deal with.

I understand the drafting process can’t be easy for club or draftee so to break the tension Walls and Bell were offered beers.

Walls accepted until he looked across to Bell who didn’t even need to say a word before Walls knocked it back.

Walls has an eye for talent but I wouldn’t want him going through a trade over lunch after a couple of pints without Bell in company.

Agreed - Henry we won’t be happy with but Schultz a win or he stays. Although reading the communication from SOS they are coming around to a trade value Freo will be happy with. I don’t believe it will include pick 13 or 21. I feel it will include F2 and another second as an upgrade from one of other picks.

Something like F2, 35 > Henry, 46

This values Henry around pick 23-25.

I want the pick 21 as well but just can’t see us getting it. The F2 could be handy if we want to try improve position on draft night or from a trade perspective in 2024.

With a full suite of 2024 picks we then hit the Collingwood trade in a good position. Sit on our offer of 19 & F1.

I think it is unlikely we end up with both but if not it will need to be something enticing. If not Schultz stays at Freo.

Something like:
19, F2, 39 > Schultz, F3, 64

This values Schultz around pick 9-11

2023: 19, 35, 39, 60
2024: Firsts x 2 (Freo, Port), F2 x 2 (Saints, Pies), F4

21 will most likely become a pick in the 30s.
It won’t fall that far.

GC have three academy players in top 20. One may even fall just after 20.

WB have Croft.
Hawks have McCabe. McCabe reading the draft experts is around 25-35.

Let’s call it at 4 in top 25, which pushes back 21 to 25.

Pick 35 Saints have includes 4 GC picks that will be used to match bid. At the moment none from WB and 1 from Hawks at 33. I feel Hawks will offload 33 - likely to GC as part of Chol deal.

Anyway 35 will end up prob around 36.
The pick 39 from Collingwood around 39-40, which is handy pick considering the position. Say for example it is 40 and Mitch Edwards isn’t selected at 39 then we can select a player at 40 and then match. He might be gone but you never know. There could even be another academy player we like who we can select at 40 and the club (aside from those interstate sides) can’t match.

Is there a reason we aren’t looking at Allan as part of the Schulz deal?

Apart from the obvious family ties, we are loosing another winger this year and thought he was drafted as mid/winger.

Seems like if he’s ever going to be getable it would be now

Ethan Stanley will do alright on the wing. Reckon he’ll be b22 this year.

Is it at all possible if we have a couple of future 1sts in hand come Tuesday we make a play at McDonald? Or definitely waiting until next year.

I think Tuesday would be leaving it way too late. Unless Sydney know he was 100 percent leaving and Freo offered like 3 future firsts

Yeah it's going to suck listening to the commentators pining for Schultz every game as if he's never played well before but he's not the first and won't be the last.

If only we could convince him to come this year instead of next
God no. We'd be paying for him as if he were Prime buddy and he hasn't shown anything near that level yet.

He'll be cheaper next year even if he performs well because OOC.

I'm sure we asked (his management at least) and got told no.

Swans are loading up for the flag, no chance they let him go in contract.

I doubt we’d be able to convince him to come here

Looks like Bells not getting the latest cultural buzz words of inclusiveness & connection.

Hypothetical - Somehow we land Pies F1.

We go into 2024 with 3 firsts.

We have a 90% ‘feeling’ Logan will come to us… let’s say same feeling as Jackson.

The question - Is there a possibility we trade out our own 2024 first for say a couple of late firsts in 2023 with North?

Or on draft night say Collard is there at pick 15 (assuming we really rate and want him) trade it out, pick him up plus whatever other picks back to us?

Second scenario makes much more sense to me.

This is all to avoid having to use it for Logan.

Thoughts?

I think we are all just hoping there is at least someone we can get in this year through trade.
I think the shock of Schultz's trade request has sent this thread on a death spiral. Had we known this news for months, I think this thread would be way more chill.

I'd argue blokes like Cerra, Acres, and Mundy have all been bigger losses than Schultz will be.

That's not a knock on Schultz. He's a star and I bloody love him. It's just to say that I think a small forward is easier to replace than quality inside mids and wingers that run both ways all day.

We need to put this in context, losing Schultz this year and the extra capital we gain puts us in a really strong position to complete our list next year with a young key forward to partner up with Amiss for 10 years.

We can add a small forward along the way. What is much harder is to grab a bloke like Logan McDonald. I'm stoked the club has identified that Logan is a chance to come home next year and I'm stoked that they're doing all they can to put themselves in the best position they can be to grab him. Trading Schultz will help facilitate that.

It sucks that he wants out but I'm stoked with the way the club is handling it.
