Given we have lost experience and inquired about a number of players for trades (Billings, Duursma and Brockman the ones we know of?), I have to imagine we target a couple mature agers in the draft.

yeah but I’d argue one of the players who can make some gold with the pig s**t we send in there was Schultz…
So we’ve got distinctly worse…

I can’t see anyway Longmuir isn’t sacked by mid season.

wont necessarily be his fault either…but here we are
Distinctly is way too strong. He kicked 34 goals. Even Banners full time in that role probably kicks 20.

If 14 goals is the difference between JL get sacked or not them I'm not sure what we're even arguing about.

yep should be able to do that with the wingers and better mids we brought in…

ohhh

What's that got to do with Schultz being a big loss? There is a vent thread you know?

The Contest has requested a trade to Victoria.
At least it didn't nominate a specific club. Should be able to get a better deal. Wait, is the contest OOC?

Oh ye of little faith

No but is an UFA next season because we delisted and re-rookied The Contest in 2020.

Specifically North Melbourne, for fashion reasons.

Worked great for Hamling

Cost extra $$ and years (that he didn't even play lol) and then got nothing when he left...

We want to avoid giving UFA at all costs imo
Like I said, if Sharp gets to 30+ on our list, I can live with losing him for nothing rather than pick 55

I can't come to terms with a business not assessing reasons for previous years poor performance - loss of experience.
Then not putting actions in place to mitigate that identified risk - still lose experience.
Then knowingly obstain from any action to counter that risk - bring in experience.
Then not calculate the additional revenue loss of these actions by losing memberships.

I dont see a lot of teams in a position to get GC some more points. Working down from Lore's list
North: Nope
WC: Have 4 picks to use and probably need to use them all
Dees: Nope
Adelaide: Nope
GWS: Could get 36 or 39
Hawks: Need their own points
Dogs: Need their own points
Dons: Yes, can and probably will get one of them
StK: Nope
Geelong: Nope
Sydney: Can get 36 or 39
Brisbane: Yes, can and probably will get one of them
Carlton: Nope
Richmond: Yes, can and probably will get one of them
Freo: Maybe?
Port: Lol

I reckon they have a wink wink deal with North already to not bid on Walters tbh

Don't forget Mackie secured 94 for the Cats which is going to come in to around pick 12 and could be used in a trade.

I do not get all the angst over this trading period.

We lost Schulrz, Henry and Hamling. The first is a real loss, the second could bite us and the third probably not ( unless we get a lot of injuries).

On the upside we have a bloody good hand for next year.

Draft hand this year not great but who knows? We could snaffle another Neale, Schultz, Cox or Darcy.

Remember the Donut Dictum.

I think the pain of this year after many expected us to go on with 2022, losing another couple B22 players including what felt like a heart & soul player plus having sweet FA to look forward to in the draft.

But hey Fox Sports gave us a D+, that's something at least.

Exactly.

Remember Snuffaluphagus has promised us both Davies and Stanley are AA calibre players so Wallsy and co have solid recent history with nailing late selections.

Yay! More draft picks to look forward to instead of actual success on the playing field as we always seem to lose players/trade in nufties like Hogan/McCarthy/Sylvia/Kersten/Lobb etc....

I'm okay with the trade period all round. We got slight overs for Shultz, slight unders for Henry, and an advantageous pick swap with Port.

I'm still not convinced with Henry. He's soft. Can't kick over 40m. And not as quick as you would expect for an outside player. Shultz is a loss but we have coverage for medium forwards. Shultz had his stand-out matches, but also went missing at times.

We don't have a good draft hand this year, so happy with a few mature players with our later picks. Walls has a great track record. Shultz, Ryan, Switta, Meek, Freddy, Banners, Wagner and Emmett were all over-age picks.

It's annoying that we don't have good picks this year, but 2024 will roll around quickly. And we'll be off our chops with three first rounders.
