For some reason it just cracks me up seeing Curtin’s name spelled as Curtain (I’m no grammar Nazi btw, don’t shoot 😂)

Thanks, I do my best.

I'd like to blame it on autocorrect but I typed that on PC so no excuses.

Think 34 and saints f2 is enough to get ahead of West Coast?
Probably not. I think we'll need an F1 to jump 23.

23 is going to be about 28 once all the bidding is done. If we are talking Collard WCE will need to get that pick pushed up a bit higher.

I’ve got picks 22 & 26 in GoSaints phantom draft for freo, I traded collingwoods future first to North for pick 22 and then 34 & 46 to Gold Coast for 26

Who would you guys be looking at with those picks I know I’m locking in on collard if he’s avaliable

We aren't going to trade a F1 for an early second. We'd have just kept the early second we already had (that we traded for an F1).

North don’t have 22. I’d say that it is the North pick 17 moved back to 22 after five bids beforehand.

So it was F1 (Collingwood) > pick 17 (pick 22 after bids).

We could well do this if a player slides to that pick that we rate around pick. 12-16 for example.

Unless the father son / academy / free agency compensation changes big time I can easily see Collingwood's F1 being pick 22 tbh.

Yes, I know changes have been floated but can't see the AFL actually implementing an adequate solution to the problem. Pick 22 would still be roughly where the premiers select in 2024.

As long as that trade happens after pick 21 has been taken (ensuring we get a specific player) I'd actually be okay with that trade.

I've gotta say in all these hypothetical trades I do hate the idea of valuing Collingwood's future first as pick 17/18.

This time last year it was inconceivable that Geelong's future first would be anything less than 17/18. It ended up being pick 8
Exactly, Collingwood F1 is the only pick guaranteed to improve in value, everyone expects it to be 18 again so that’s all you’d get for it if traded this year.
It’s why I’m all in on trading our F1 this year for two of Norths picks if there’s a couple of players we like on the board (Hardeman and Collard would be nice) and they still have them. The rest of the league values it as a top 5-9 pick next year when it may well end up a teens pick.
Deathride Port and pies all year and see what chips we end up with for a play for McDonald.

We spent 3 days of trade period arguing with Collingwood to get their F1 instead of their pick 19 from this years draft.

Clearly we valued (rightly) the Collingwood F1 greater than pick 19 this year.
Now some want to given away the same F1 that we pushed hard to obtain instead of pick 19 this year…

For a pick between 23 and 27.

Make it make sense? Wouldnt we just have taken pick 19 instead of the F1 in that case?

Well to be fair the conversation surrounding the pick swap was raised by bone2468 because of the phantom draft he's participating in.

Personally I hope we keep it. I want all three retained.

However that 19 is likely to be pushed back to 24. Whereas the pick 17 with North being the one mentioned above will be pick 22. It is still a first round pick.

Collingwood might fall a few spots but there will again be free agents and bids that potentially affect the first round in 2024. Ashcroft junior one very highly rated and the Camporeale twins are others, not to mention the annual academy gifts for GWS and GCS.

Yeah I wanna hold the F1s

Saints F2 is what I would use to move up (after we have already moved up with GC)
Spot on. We are targeting 24 or 26, using 34 and 46. I don’t believe that is where we’ll stop. We can then use 24 or 26 with F2 to try and push up to around 22 rather than toss one of our valuable F1’s.

One things for sure, I'll be pretty annoyed if Collard makes it to the Saints Gresham pick

That should have been ours for Henry

Bigfooty phantom has them taking him at that pick 🤮🤮
Isn’t that what happened with the Cerra trade, we all wanted 6+25 with something going back, instead we got 6 and a F3, then Carlton used 25 to poach Motlop, our NGA!

I'm waiting for the Dockery move of trading the Collingwood F1 back to the Pies for pick 19.

That’s almost expected. Dockery move would be adding the F2 to seal the deal!

Then true DOCKERY will be using the acquired pick on someone no one had going in first 40 picks.

That player will be a Vic metro kid that plays hbf.
