Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

GC won by 107 points. Chol kicked 6 goals. Weak opposition. I'm not convinced the VFL is really that much better than the WAFL or SANFL. We've seen how guys like Wagner don't do any better in the WAFL than the VFL. They have 21 teams now, and GC and Brisbane are on top of the ladder with what are presumably local QLD players as the top ups. Doesn't strike me as a standout second tier competition when the talent is spread over so many sides.
The VFL is the weakest of the 3

Sanfl> wafl> vfl

I'm not sure where everyone is getting the idea of us recruiting players that aren't originally from WA

Historically it doesn't happen, Brodie was a bit it of a fluke and he supported Freo for whatever reason growing up

Anyone getting hopes up over Hollands or flanders are going to be disappointed, they will go to Vic teams if they leave

If Darcy wants to leave, should we do a switch for English? Idk how that dynamic would look with Jackson, but if it allows Jackson to run around causing havoc it might work?

Don't forget we got Corbett too 🥵

Don't think so. Need a ruck who's good in the ruck contest. Our mids are bad enough when we win the tap, I can't image how bad it would be if they can't read the tap at all.

English is average as a ruck but he would make up for it as a second midfielder.

I dont think he helps us, I'd prefer the draft and salary capital spent on the forwardline if he does go for some reason. Would rather get someone like the GC kid who is dominating VFL (but cant get ahead of Witts) to hold us over until Knobel is ready or if we are confident enough, back Reidy to come on.

The only deficiency English might help us on is transition.

The only problem is that we signed Treacy to 3 years on decent coin. If we add another KPF than we have Tabs and Treacy sitting on the sidelines. Darcy would net us a good pick but I have no clue who we would even spend it on.

I wouldn’t think Treacy is on huge money.
A good quality small forward in the draft is a must IMO. They should develop quicker and be able to play a meaningful part from 2025-29 when we should be contending.
Brockman on top of that would be even better.

If Darcy leaves I reckon we go after a journeyman ruckman instead of English. Someone like Nank.
Like when Nank left the Swans to join the Tigers? A ruck that isn't really getting much opportunity at one club but could be a number 1 ruck at another?

Maybe a Lloyd Meek perhaps? 🤔

Just saw a story of the O'Driscoll family on ten news ...what's the deal with Aiden O'Driscoll..is he any good?

A faster, zippier version of his older brother. Will play small forward, wing

Aiden should take his spot on the wing, Nathan goes into the stoppage to use his big body there.

Garlick identified Jackson as a ruckman in his interview. He said it twice. I thought it was strange as he is really playing as a forward who goes through the ruck. Might be reading too much into it but it did sound strange the way he said it.
