Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

The obvious four are Hamling, Wilson, Colyer and Benning. Doesn't mean you don't play em this season if required.

Anyway it's not going to be just four players going out and I think most, if not all, our rookie list gets re-signed. Unless a few players leave in trade period and/or we don't bring in anyone in trade ourselves some people on here are going to quite unhappy at one or two of the changes we make.

Personally I think if our current contracts didn't exist I'd keep Sturt but as it stands I find it very hard to see how he stays on the list. We'll move on 5-6 absolute minimum.
Think have to keep hambling he’s an excellent leader and good back up, and teaches Davies and Draper along the way

So let’s say Henry asked for a trade last year year & didn’t happen, would you play him?

Lobb was different as freo didn’t have many forward options!

They are a young side trying to stop the next wave from leaving the club. Why would you invest time and play someone that is already out the door? Will power is one they are trying to keep so play him. Also Atkins and Ellis who they got over on good coin to play the wing, so maybe they feel the need to play them.

I still remember his draft year freo were right into him even interviewed him the day before.
Henry’s agent was shopping him around. The club needs to back itself in to help the player decide he wants to be around this place for longer term.

Freo had a crack at Jordan Clark the year before trading him in. We were super keen on his draft year. Anyway Geelong played him when his form warranted it from the start of the year and then he got dropped not because there was a good chance he was leaving but because his form didn’t warrant it. Anyway I’m not buying your point.

Towards the back end of the season Sharp if he has gone to the club and said I’m done with this place and see ya later once season’s done then ok you play younger players ahead of him. He hasn’t had a look in from the start of the year despite being fully fit. His early VFL games were just ok. He has played some good games but other players ahead of him. He played the pre-season games but was no good.

I’m not totally against adding him but GC have lost that battle and played the game terribly. If they accepted F3 then he would be at our club and they would have had another decent pick to play with. He will end up at West Coast or Freo but likely a DFA, rookie draft selection or best a very late draft pick. I’d expect GC have minimal interest in a very late draft pick so for mine he just walks out the door.

Just saw a story of the O'Driscoll family on ten news ...what's the deal with Aiden O'Driscoll..is he any good?

He won't do a lot for trying to increase our size in the forward line or midfield. Have a look at the Blues last week when players like Serong and Brayshaw just got bullied by bigger opposition. Also the template is the Magpies who won't give Ginnivan a game as they only have room for one small forward who is Bobby Hill, yet last week we had a half forward line of Switta, Walters and Shultz!

We need a Son Son replacement this year to get a couple of years under their belt before he goes

Collingwood play just as many smalls, it's just that many of theirs run through the midfield as well. They'll only ply two talls this week up forward, with Johnson Being the medium target.

Players like Lipinski, Adams and McCreery all play forward at times, but also play on ball at times.

I read it other way...
Would love to come to freo but...
Smart and professional enough to say he will go anywhere!

Other clubs would have to rate him a flight risk though...cuts both ways.
Yeah a WA prospect who's not projected to go in the first round can't risk being viewed as a flight risk.

But our smalls are small and are pretty hopeless in the air bar Shultz which is why they just kept getting out marked last weekend so many times.

lipinski is hardly a small forward tbf 190cm, Beau 186cm, elliot and hill the only sub 180 guys

Having a further think on it, we have plenty of scope for list spots if we need them this year.

Wagner Hughes Corbett can all be delisted and rookied

Wilson Colyer Hamling and benning are gone

Realistically though I think we’ll re-sign Stanley, Kuek and Reidy. It’d leave only two spots on the rookie list. History says we’ll use at least one on a player new to the system.

Benning
Colyer
Henry- trade
Wilson
Corbett- re rookie
Sturt - maybe rookie
There is no room on the rookie list. It’s already full. You can’t just re-rookie guys unless someone already on the rookie list is delisted.
What’s more, Treacy has to be brought up from the rookie list to the main list. So Treacy could come up and Corbett be moved to the RL (he’s lucky he is contracted or he would already be gone). But then that’s one less national draft selection for us.
We are a bottom 4 side with rubbish depth. We are not Collingwood or Port.
We should be turning over 8 or 9 players minimum because, as the ladder and performances show, we are simply not good enough.

TBH I think Wagner is only on a 1 year, until they confirm that he has 2 it just doesn't make sense for him to be on 2

So Corbett and Hughes could be rookied and Wagner delisted

Wonder if Melbourne are interested in Corbett still, think both clubs may have thought Amiss and JVR would take longer when they were interested in him last year
