Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Elliot Yeo to Fremantle is more than just scuttle butt and is more than a strong chance of happening. All 3 parties are very open to the idea.

The question is, is this right move by Fremantle to bring in an injury riddled 29 year old and what is his worth?
I'd be up for it. We're kidding ourselves if we think, even if Johnson and Ras come on, we have a top four midfield. We seem to be endlessly stuck in a developing young list mode, and we're getting bullied. We can't just wait for 2026 thinking it will just happen, and that includes the coach.

Id actually be all for getting Yeo if he came at the right price. A Midfield of Brayshaw, Serong, Yeo, Omeara, Erasmus and Johnson would bat pretty deep. You'd really wanna get him for free though

I don’t mind this, if we can get his body right, he’s a bull in the midfield and arrogant. Exactly what we are missing.

Yeo has one year left on his contract so I’m not sure the salary being moved is all that much. Would need to be pick 50 or so to make sense.

One aspect of our new reality as cellar dwellers (resigned sigh) is that if Cox or Darcy leave in 2024 for big money as free agents, we would get pick 4 or so on 2024 as compensation. If both left we could get picks 4 and 5.
I’d let Cox go for pick 4 no problems at all.
If they both left in those circumstances I’m done following AFL footy

Suggested Yeo is not at all happy with his rehab programs and treatment from the Eagles medical teams. He wouldnt be alone.

Something isnt right there and dont be surprised if a few players move to a club with a good reputation and recent results getting players right.

What he would be worth will depend if the Eagles pay some salary in 2024 his last year contracted.

fourth rounder and we pay a fair bit of his salary.

he is all risk.

People ffs trading for Yeo would be a disaster. We barely have room to fit in all our young guns.
  • It is an arrogant move as we are not contending for top four/grand final next year (think of why we brought JOM in)
  • The bloke is very injury prone
  • We have draft needs such as small forwards and trading away our picks would prevent us from drafting one
  • We literally have no room in the midfield and we would need to force two of Brodie/Fyfe/JOM/Ras out of the side

heh.

you've watched the midfield get belted like a red headed step child all year and think we don’t have room?
hilarious

To add to the Yeo discussion, lets take Obeanie1's surprisingly reasonable trade price and look at risk / reward.
  • The general consensus regardless of what you think about the list is we have too many roleplayers
  • Yeo is a-grade if on the park
  • The vast majority of talent you get after pick like 45 (future 3rd for us with academies and what not every year) is a role player at best. Dont come at me with Darcy / Cox, calls, there is like 1-2 players drafted after pick 40 every year that are close to anything b-grade and above.

If we actually pay like 350k salary, are we more likely to get the higher level talent with a pick 45 or get Yeo on the park? I'll back Merriman to get make that an easy risk/reward choice

Once bash and crash players like Fyfe and Yeo start breaking down, you can't expect much more from them. They have extracted a huge toll on their body with the way they have played. Mundy and Pendles are no softies and often in the guts of the action, but they are more smooth movers with outside/finishing tendencies, and didn't suffer as much punishment. Dusty some kind of mix of all of them ... played bash and crash, but a lot of time up forward to do his work 1-on-1, rather than being smashed endlessly at the bottom of packs.

Disagree.

A future 3rd rounder could net us the next Sean Darcy / Brennan Cox.
