Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Tim Kelly is the only one we should really be after but that's precisely why the Eagles won't let him go (especially not for a reasonable price) - he's not ****, washed up or broken.

He is one paid so much they would have to swap future firsts to get him off their books. More than GC gave #7 to bounce off.

Yeo isn't too far behind

as a forward ruck I’d say only daniher and finlayson have kicked more.. and I’d say would ruck less

Any fair averages for Jackson’s goals per game need to remove the games where he was the no. 1 ruck.

Tbh I think there’s multiple players on our list that could easily reach 30 goals in a season. Schultz and Freddy weren’t even that far off last year. Don’t know what’s happened to Schultz the last month but if performs like he did the first ten weeks of the season he gets there once or twice during his career. Until recently I didn’t see consistency as a problem for him either.

and again, it's the progression of Treacy as a marking target/threat that will shield Amiss because the next phase of their development will be Jye being guarded by two defenders, where one will try and sit in the middle of the fifty to block his leading lanes and if Josh Treacy is leading laterally without a man at the top of the fifty they'll soon have to change that defensive structure.

But we need Treacy able to work up the ground, clunking the marks and kicking the set shots from 45m.

Haha is that guy is back trying to offload broken Weagles? Hilarious.

Lol. I read about Yeo to Freo on here. The Freo List Management thread.

I mentioned it on the Eagles site and no-one has heard anything about it.

So no I'm not peddling anything........today.;)

And Eagles fans don't want to risk trading Yeo as he might come good and help Freo win a flag. Never change Big Footy. Lol.

Are you ITK?

I got no qualms with Brayshaw and Serong. These guys are genuine A grade midfielders. Capable regularly of 30+ possession games, Serong more inside and Brayshaw more transition.

It’s the next tier of “mature” players that are shitting me. JOM, Aish, Brodie have had bog average years. They are regularly destroyed by the opposition mids. They are low 20s high teens, low impact players. Brodie 2022 was great, I’d love to know where that forms gone. Hopefully he recaptures it.

The reality is we can’t play all 3 through the midfield. Right now JOM is the best of the lot but I’m not convinced he can be part of a top 4 midfield. Too easily beaten in the contest, too easily sidestepped and provides very little defensive pressure aside from the stationary tackle which Mundy use to do.

We have Johnson and Erasmus who should get there. But they are very young. We need them to pop well ahead of schedule.

I don’t mind the idea of Young in the midfield. We have back line depth. He has size but he’s not particularly quick and the time he takes for the footy to reach his foot is too long.

We also need to chase a key defender with footskills. Pearce is a key defender of yester year. He’s not even locking down well at the moment. Sam Taylor / Harry Himmelberg would be ideal. The way Melbourne chased Steven May. Once they had Lever and May their transition game improved immensely.

Small forwards will invent themselves when our ball movement improves and the key forwards mature.

We are nearly there, Cox is one piece of the puzzle, but we need to complement him with another. If Pearce finds form again, we can make do, but I’m not sure the back 6 move the ball well enough to create drive from the HBF.

Elliot Yeo to Fremantle is more than just scuttle butt and is more than a strong chance of happening. All 3 parties are very open to the idea.

The question is, is this right move by Fremantle to bring in an injury riddled 29 year old and what is his worth?
**** off.
Already signed JOM to a retirement plan. Yeo is cooked.

You do realise we are 99% list nuffies that throw out left field ideas because we are bored. Pretty sure it'd be the same across the road, no?

Nah. Serong and Brayshaw are in there as well. they need to be held accountable. Maybe JOM is suffering because they are in there with him. Amazing how those two escape any criticism when our midfield often gets smashed when they are in there. We need to spend the next 6 weeks plus the preseason finding out who are genuinely the best in there and not just carry on with these failing preconceived ideas. If they turn out to be the best, great but looking at how we performed when Erasmus was in there and how well JOM and Aish did for 3 quarters, it may not be.
It's pretty obvious teams saw what Collingwood did to our midfield in the final last year and used it as a blueprint to beat us this year. Just about every mature big bodied midfield has beaten us when we have gone in with Brayshaw, Serong and Jaeger.
