Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Whilst I think we will get another when Colyer retires (at the end of this season), I just don't see us prioritising one in terms of using a 1-2 round draft pick. Obviously we may look at Pickett if he wants out of Melbourne, but the question is whether we would have the currency without sacrificing in other locations in that situation anyway. Where would you be happy to lose a good player from to get that small forward? Brennan Cox? Sean Darcy? Nat Fyfe?

how about now…

Is losing Brodie for a mid 2nd be good or bad for us?

Assuming he gets 450k next contract.

I think from a list balance point if view. I can see the benefit.

Ideally, Pickett and Motlop in.
1st 2nd and Brodie out. Erasmus can play in middle.

Brodie > JOM

Besides, Ras will be a handy player but he isn't fast from what I've seen.

Got good power through the shitstorm though

Brodies got to change his method oppo are knocking down his dive forward handball too easy now and it’s leading to some really bad fast turnovers

Anyone else get the notification that "Midfielder signs on" from the Freo app at about 7am WA time?

Cant find anything about it....

He played like he had been out Saturday night celebrating

Premiership teams have good depth.

The best case for Freo is that Erasmus/Johnson pushes him out and he becomes very handy depth
That's all great to say but good players, especially high draft picks, don't stay at their clubs as depth players.

They'll always be clubs that can fit these players in their best 22 and have room in salary cap to pay said players significantly more. Exhibit A - Griffin Logue.

Hope we find a way to get these guys into our best 22 before they walk.

Do agree that depth is important but impacts on the future best 22 need to be weighed up when making those decisions.

I don't know about you guys but I thought when Mundy retired it was to clear a spot for Erasmus or Johnson to come through. JOM although a great reputation and model citizen just takes a spot that would have been available for them.

So far I haven't been very impressed with JOM.

Another stupid 4 year deal

Some one get in there and take Belly’s name off the company credit card

Having watched a few games now, intras, scratchy, rnd 1

I am of the same opinion

I love his leadership but other than that he only really brings good handballing

I didn't want to bring anyone down in the preseason but I just don't see how he fits in

I think we've made a mistake not training him for the wing

The 4th midfielder needs to be a combo of our forward line, let Fyfe, switta, Jackson all roam through there, as well as aish (Freddy steps to wing during this)

This allows our extra forward rotation in Sturt

O'Meara hits the wing and gives us some experience there instead of shoe horning Hughes on it

****in oath you lot are a sour bunch. Everyone would’ve been over the moon with this extension if they announced it after a win. 3 year extension for a 24 year old who averaged 30 touches a game last season is perfectly adequate.

With improvement in him as well
