Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Looking at the power rankings on rookieme, that pick 10-15 range looks an awkward spot to be for our list needs. I don't want to draft anyone they have listed from 9-18 due to a combination of their size/position.

I would actually prefer lower ranked players such as Hardemann (19), Tholstrup (23), Edwards (24), Collard (27). And if they can be picked in the 20-30 range, I don't see the value in trading the farm to move up and pick someone less suited to our needs.

The only logic would be if we want Edwards (my favourite outside Collard) and he is going to go much higher than he is currently being ranked. There are only a few highlights and his output might be less. But he has size, power and burst speed. Has been compared to Max Holmes, and if that's what clubs project they are getting, then I suspect he might go a fair bit higher than people are predicting.
By the sounds of Walls interview looks like the only way we take Edward’s is if he miraculously falls to 40+. Won’t use a draft pick on him

I think he's talking about Charlie Edwards. He is going to bolt when combine results come out. Very impressive end to the season.

Last time we took a top draft pick from Melbourne with RED flags……..?????Fcuk I hope we’ve learned our lesson
I hear you but Oliver is a much better player now then what Hogan was.

Like I'd be all for it and if we win a flag in the next year or 2 because of it, it'll be more then worth it.

What would a player like Oliver cost in terms of draft picks though? You would be so hamstrung on the Contract length and financial side.

Just as an example... the difference in the amount of cocaine needed to feature in the news in NSW:
Shane Mumford with a brick of it.

Valentine Holmes with a tiny little bag.

Now if a player into this stuff were playing in WA the same rules apply for WC and Freo, where WC is the AFL player in NSW needing a massive story to make the news and the Freo player needs only the suggestion of it for front page.

This is why players "keep their noses clean" when they move to play for an AFL club in NSW and QLD. Nobody cares.

It's also why they need to stay out of WA and SA.

Clearly there is some sort of serious off field issue with Oliver if they are even remotely entertaining a trade.
On talent alone - my goodness I’d give two first rounders and a million a season tomorrow morning for him without even blinking. He is in the best 5 players in the AFL and at his best, would be an unbelievable addition to our midfield.

The only thing I can think of besides the obvious is that Melbourne severely mismanaged his injury this year (the first of his career) and this led to a relationship breakdown. Or maybe Melbourne were REALLY pissed when Oliver told Cripps to wipe the blood off his face in the semi!

The combine athletic testing results are going to throw those rankings out the window. A player will be thought of as a draft bolter for being taken ahead of perceived rankings by a club that traded up to get that pick.
Like a Griffin Logue type….warning to young players - needs to footy !!!

There's simply no way that Oliver can be gettable. I find it completely bizarre it's a discussion point.

If there is actually any truth to it, those rumours on the real reason for his extended "hamstring" are going to go into overdrive
Keep your rational thoughts out of this thread.

Billing’s has barely got out on the park. Club won’t be interested in another ave trade in.
At least when fit he's shown something at AFL level though.

Sharp would be delisted if we weren't showing any interest.
