Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

I think it's team needs specific. Oleg Markov just won a premiership playing every game since round 4 (coincidentally, another Gold Coast reject). Clearly speed is important especially on the wings, and I don't think we have enough of it.
Markov was a last ditch selection by Collingwood though. If Charlie Dean, a defender btw, didn't go down with an injury and go on the inactive list, Markov could quite easily be at Carlton or a VFL club.

Leg speed is no doubt handy. Someone smart and fast would be good on the wing.

Hamling all but certain to head to Sydney

Unpopular opinion but I’m totally fine with this.
Unless you think we are a flag contender next year which is a stretch for even the most one-eyed members of the purple army, we are better off in the long term with the pick received from hamling even if it’s a third rounder. Walls will put it to good long term use.
Hamling ain’t getting a game ahead of Cox or Pearce next year.

No but it's the same as Logue for me. Probably not in the b22 but we desperately need a backup key defender ready to plug and play with Pearce and Cox both missing good chunks of the past few years with injuries.

Hamling is more understandable though because he's probably only got a few years left in him so I can't begrudge him for leaving.

I think it's unlikely we get any compensation.
I'd prefer to keep Hamling, but Davies should be really pumped for pre-season now.

I know it’s Cornes but they have a point
Agree 100%. I dont want us to trade Darcy. I think he can work well with Jackson. But I do think we have been too comfortable just doing the bare minimum this trade and draft period.

I’m almost glad Hamling is leaving and we have a chance to bring in a pick in the 40s instead of him. It forces our hand to bring in 5 new players to the list next year.
If we were able to free up an extra list spot from Hamling departing, and give it to the likes of Ashton Moir - I’m happy with that gamble.

As much as I rate Davies. He wont be AFL ready until 2025. We need have to ducking replace Hamling with a ready made 195cm depth backman.

We can’t lose more experience. It needs to now be replaced. Can’t go backwards with games experience.
Has to be a DFA out there happy to be depth on a list.

I'm sure we keep him if we offer another year. But I don't think we're moving on our deal to him.

Logue quite a different case. His best footy is still ahead of him while Joel’s is firmly behind him.
Look - we are only giving him a one year deal to play for peel? Of course he’s taking the Sydney offer. We are basically pushing him out.
I’d much gather get rid of the like of Hughes off the list myself than Hamling but he’s a protected species with his 2 year deal still to run unfortunately.

We can improve our list this year without touching our future first.
Like who though? Also have to take into account Salary. I would be thinking that we can afford 1 more big name player and we would be pretty much full capwise

Maybe you should be talking about Freo more, Tom. Especially about the lack of hand outs from the AFL compared to other clubs that’s been going on since our inception. Maybe he’s right though, maybe we are too quiet in that regard and should ****en speak up
