Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Early rumours for the year I've heard, I dont pretend any of this is 100% or gospel just the word of mouth around places. The only thing I can promise on any of this is that I havent made any of this up out of thin air:
Pickett: Right in the hunt and we've got an offer comparable or better to others
Naughton: Target number 1 though for obvious reasons it's hard to see how it gets done this year. Several different people (randoms, not people in the club or Naughton family) think he's a lock either this year or next. He doesnt have a problem with current Freo and I'd personally have him the most likely of the names here but still at like sub 20% (ie, dont get your hopes up too high).
Georgiades: Lock to go to WC supposedly
English: WC priority number 1 and they are pretty confident
McDonald & Warner: Very very happy in Sydney and will be incredibly difficult to ever pry out

West Coast chasing English is not a recent thing but it would make it very interesting if both English and Naughton request trades back west end of the season and West Coast have a top five pick.

Would the Dogs take WC's first this year, their first next year, our first next year, our second this year for both English and Naughton? A top five, two picks in the eight to thirteen range and a pick in the early twenties?

Would WC feel that their first this year and next year for English and Erasmus is fair value?

Would Freo feel our First next year, our second and Erasmus is value for Naughton?

I'm not trying to trade Erasmus, but everyone here is under contract.

Where's the vomit emoji. Sounds exactly like you are trying to trade Erasmus.

We need to keep Erasmus and play him. He is fierce and fearless. Just what we need.
Imagine the frustration kicking for goal with Fyfe and Naughton in tandem!

Seems though that as ever we need a key forward. Fyfe and Tabs are huge fitness risks.

At best, Treacy and Amiss are going to take time. Hard to think of too many prospects other than Naughton and McDonald. Maybe Van Rooyen but the Dees would probably only trade him if they think he’s not up to the mark.

Pickett would be a great successor to Sonny.

De Goey is the player we should have gone hard at instead of Jackson when hewas avaliable, i get the no DH policy but jesus we need a tough nut that just plays
The Dustin Martin clone. Richmond and Collingwood refused to kick them out. They're the players that win flags. But nope, Bell likes strong culture.

After the last few games and the deficiencies we've shown, I'm all in on Pickett. He'd slot in perfectly into our forward line and could also rotate with Switta at centre bounces.

He's quick, he can kick goals, he's playing stints in the guts, and he's got that mongrel in him. All kind of things that we need. He just needs to ease off on the bumping.

Anything on Motlop?

I dunno about Georgiades tbh. He's probably a bit more WC than Freo but wouldn't be overly surprised if he ends up with us. I rate him tbh - touch undersized sure but ticks most other boxes.

I've heard from a few Rory Lobb wanted preferred West Coast but $$$ was too much from Freo.

We'll see with with Georgiades. Maybe the same thing happens.

Naughton kicking is horrible. It will never change either. I have Pickett ahead of him and more suitable for us.
WC will get English for free at end of 2024 as a FA. Why would rte pay 2 first rounders this year?

I know we’ve ragged on them for their list management of late and I do think they ll be down longer than usual (by historical standards) but WC will still more than likely end up with a decent team after this rebuild.

They ll get georgiades for a second this year , whilst still retaining their first and another second to use on more mids , maybe another key back then likely a high first again the following year to again grab a top rated mid then finish off grabbing English as a free agent.

Hopefully some of their picks don’t come on as expected but I can see them hitting more than they miss.

They need a quality ruckman, and that costs a top ten pick.
They don’t have time to wait, and English will need help regardless if he
leaves at all?
That and their best 22 still includes Shuey, Hurn, McGovern, Darling, Yeo and
Gaff.
Yes they will have young talent, but it takes time, by 2027 both clubs should be
both competing and maybe we get a Derby final in Perth?

When those guys retire and they will in the next 2 to 4 years then they will have money to splash at players from other clubs

Nah they're nowhere near finished in 3 years. Still have a solid contributing core to retire. Hurn, Shuey, Darling, Cripps, McGovern will go by then. Then likely Kelly, Sheed and Barrass will be on their last season or close to by the time they've rebuilt fully too.

Agree they will end up with a decent team should they avoid Jackson trade like mistakes, especially if they retain their local drafting predilection. Ginbey, Hewitt a good start.

Which, unless they are free agents, will require a high cost in picks and likely set them further back.

You can't rebuild just with luring players, although you can use it to stay relevant if you already have a top-8 team.

Bah I wouldn’t pay more than Lloyd Meek prices for a ruck these days and Darcy should be number 1 on our trade out list he’s good at boundary throw ins ( getting less and less ) and body blocks of the oppo ruckman ( 50/50 free kick against ) and it’ll only get worse for him

Well we have Jackson Reidy and Knobel in the wings so someone values rucks😜
Plus a few KP’s around the 200cm mark.
Maybe you’re right? Grundy says hi.

If they can mark the ball and aren’t potatoes when the ball hits the deck then good-o , ruckwork ? Just have a crack and don’t get totally owned

Yeah I should’ve worded it better ,agree they won’t be the finished product (I don’t even think we are yet)but more in the context of should be close to finishing getting the bulk of their top talent in.
I d expect them to be moving out of that top 5 pick territory in 3 years.
If you were them you d certainly hope so.

They ll more than likely also pick up a couple of ex pat wa boys with second rounders .
On top of being able to stagger their retiring veterans (whist our rebuild was more brutal in its culling to senior players )which should see more of a gradual climb for them.

Getting someone like English for nothing but salary would also be huge considering our own version (Jackson) has cost 2x1sts and a second.
