There is a bit of talk on here about Cuningham and Fogarty with their impact when they go in the middle. Yes they have added something to the team we need and they are playing a role pretty well, but could we find a player who plays the forward role as well or better but has a bigger impact when they go into the middle?
You'd have to think, this is why we were originally looking at Gresham...
But now Cuningham and Fogarty have really started to stand up there is less of a need for him...

I'd hope we'd give Binns & Philp, the opportunity to learn this role going forward...

Would make Harry invaluable to us if he could second Ruck...
This would allow us to have another runner in the team...
Harry is already invaluable to us. He is a key forward capable of a couple of goals a game (at worst).
His work up the ground is next level. He is 6 feet 7 inches tall for us who still live with the imperial reference. He runs like a gazelle and has few weaknesses bar this which SOMETIMES infiltrate his brain.

Harry is “another runner” +++

The second ruck you want is possibly/likely already on our list, when one or both or O’Keeffe and Lemmey mature.

So many posters here want absolute perfection NOW. We will never achieve perfection list wise, injuries happen, opposition focus on negating “stars”.

We utilise our list as best we can. We develop young players and sometimes rejuvenate older ones through changing up roles. We draft or trade for the next generation or to plug holes/improve the output incrementally.

The “noise” around Harry is pathetic. Talking heads suggesting ludicrous trade scenarios and questioning the tenure of players who are literally stars if the game. Harry is a little less self confident than others and this crap is destructive. To have multiple “supporters” trumpeting the crap is next level disheartening.

You're nit-picking,
It's obvious I meant invaluable to our structure, because it would allow for another runner instead of carrying
2x Rucks and 3x Tall Forwards...

Binns aside...
O’Keeffe and Lemmey are the 2 I'm most excited about, if one of them can make it at the AFL level in the coming years...
Would allow Harry to go back to FF where he's played his best footy and Curnow to be the 3rd tall Forward... We'd be unstoppable...

TDK seems a ruck first who can operate forward, really hope O’Keeffe or Lemmey can become a (Logan McDonald, McLean Type) KPF first who can ruck decently... JSOS would be better suited to us, out of the ruck...

Read yesterday * are interested.

Ooohhhhh I hope they get him!!!

Perfect for their list. An outside mid/forward with moderate disposal who has more likely than not reached his peak.

Now they have completed their midfield with the big bodied setterfield, they go after the icing on the cake, flashy types!!!!

5 year deal please Dodo!!!

Definitely, were likely looking at him to fill the role but the role has now been filled. Now we will be looking at someone to take the role further.

Durdin has shown a bit around the stoppages and high half forward when given opportunity. Perhaps injury, youth and not having the tank as held him back.

Think next year we will be good enough to expirement a bit and still win, I would like to see us go back to trying Dow in the role, his impact going on the ball is huger and he developed a forward game in the VFL before we played him predominantly as a mid.

I think Cottrell has the wing/forward role sown up really nicely.

Binns I think will be in for another development year, this year he owned the wing, we gave him a taste on the ball late in the season and I think we will develop him more in the middle there. Will we also develop his forward game? Maybe. I hope so.

Honey is the player I had all the hope in the world for in this role, his athletic profile is through the roof. But he just can't find the footy.

Philp was recruited for this role with a high pick and we have hardly seen any footy from him. He's quick, hard at it and we definitely rated him at one time. Has to be a chance.

Motlop if he can get his tank up definitely has midfield ability.

We are lucky we have Cuningham and Fogarty playing at a good level.

On the other side of the coin, I hope we can find a player who fits this profile in the draft. Forward/mid or even just a medium forward fills a need.

Sure thing BlueBalls

Carlton is among the clubs with interest in prising former No.7 draft pick Elijah Hollands from Gold Coast. Hollands, 21, is contracted to the Suns for 2024 but rival clubs believe he is gettable during the upcoming trade period.

Industry sources have indicated that the Blues are interested in acquiring Hollands, in doing so reuniting him with younger brother Ollie.

Not sure if it was reported here but apparently, Carlton is interested in reuniting Elijah Hollands with his brother Ollie according to CODE Sports.

Bring back Sav Rocca for a year. His impact on Casboult was immense.
He should be on staff forever. It’s a no brainer, he can work with the forwards most, and keep working with them even if they don’t need it, but spend a bit of time with the kids then too. It’s the biggest bang for buck coaching in the game. He should never have been let go, even if it was through Covid
