You'd think they will do a goldcoast and get them both off their books this year as they are subject to review next year even if that means they get slight unders.

I doubt we get either in the fisher trade as a straight swap but will at least mean they have no reason to not give us something decent.
It would undoubtedly be overs for Fisher. But we could manufacture something a bit more realistic.

I'd do something like Fisher and our future third for a future end of first rounder,

Problem with a future end of first is it likely just gets chewed up on the best of the Campo boys, so it may need to be on the proviso that we can find a suitor to swap that future end of first rounder for a late first or early second this year.

If the Doggies miss out on getting Pick 4 from GC, would they consider 17 for a future end of first rounder and change? Or maybe someone like Sydney would do Pick 22 for a future end of first rounder and LOB?

Yeah I wouldn’t expect the pick in a straight swap but I would be working it into negotiations.

I also wouldn’t stress too hard about where a Campo bid falls just yet. That is two trade periods away. But we should be looking to extract maximum value wherever we can.

North definitely the team to trade with now and the afl wouldn’t want them using those picks just on 18 year olds great opportunity for us if fisher is to leave maybe even Young as well if they want a Ben Mckay replacement.

Yep.

Going to sound like a broken record but TDK needs to become "the man".

Hopefully one more preseason is enough.

TDK just brings so much energy. Had qtrs this year in the ruck where he was Kruzer like tractoring the ball forward.

Pitto is an okay tap ruck. But offers litterally nothing else.

Someone that big should be marking way more.

Doesn't have the mind for positioning. He should be waiting a kick behind the ball and intercepting.

The amount of times I've seen him flat footed amd opposition players run around him like a witches hat...

TDK. The answer. Give him the mantle. Let him do the rest.

TDK + Jsos is our most effective ruck set up.
If this is our best ruck set up then something has gone horribly wrong. I simply dont see him in our best 22. There just isn't a spot for him if we want to progress. IMO.

Hollands - if he's cheap. Not sure where he fits on our list.
Jordon - Is he any better than what we have in a wing/mid role?
Chol - Is lazy and ruckwork is ordinary. Was traded from Richmond when Hardwick was coach. Interested to know what their relationship is like.
Goldstein - Four years ago yes. Now, no.

I would look, but Hawthorn bound I'm sure I've read. Or maybe Im thinking of someone else?

We cooled on Gresham.
He had interest in us, and a figure around 500k seemed to be the going rate.
But SOS was never going to let him leave for a band 3 compo pick and we were never going to enter into a bidding war for a player like that.

Saints and Bombers are now working together to do some very clever/edgy deals that would see the saints take Shiel and his full salary for a semi high pick, but the bombers will the pay Gresham extreme overs to ensure the saints get band 1 compo… clever… dodgy… somewhere in the middle. These are the deals the SOS and Adrian like to do.

Annoyed that the Saints will manufacture a better pick out of this deal.

But also happy that Gresham will soak up $800k a year of Essington's salary cap for years and Shiel will do the same for a year at the Saints!

Lucky for the Saints that Shiel, according to Sobbo, took less to play for the premiership-bound Bombers than play for us as he was super-impressed by the strong leadership of Parish, McGrath and Hepple.

How about we go after the VFL team of the year fullback?
Side note (and I know I am a week late on this, but).... Holy **** Binns made the VFL team of the year on a wing!

Not the squad of 40, the final team of 24. Named on the field.

Excellent work, young man!

1. See him consistently playing the role he did against Brisbane. Lots of footy and lots of metres gained. If The team didn't run out of legs. The role that he played would have been game breaking. That is his perfect role

2. Think Durds will be fine. Needs a big summer, needs to rebuild his confidence, needs to stay on the park and get a consistent run at it next season.

3. I don't see Kemp as a big bodied midfielder on a permanent basis, primarily due to the way of the list has been designed. I can see him getting a run in the midfield from time to time but it won't be a permanent role. Not with Cripps, Hewett, Kennedy, et al already on the list.
Fair enough...I asked the questions.
I was thinking that Boyd could be our Dow replacement
I think Durdin gets lost inside 50. Was he not a mid prior to being drafted??
I don't think we can carry Hewett Cripps and Kennedy together anymore...just too slow
They were my thoughts prior to asking the questions

With his agility, speed and strength could easily see him taking that role going forward. If his goal kicking and instincts are strong enough would be a nightmare for opposition defenses who already struggle with a healthy Charlie due to his combination of size strength and speed.

Would be not too dissimilar to adding Pearce to Sticks and Spalding.

Id like to see him up front as the third tallish forward. Jack Martin as your medium marking fwd.

I guess the way they'd look at is Essendon is already overpaying for Shiel so they are just swapping him out for Gresham. Still overpaying but for a player who fills a greater need so they are ahead.

St Kilda on the other hand has heaps of cap space, needs talent but is unlikely to attract any A graders via trade or FA. So they are swapping Gresham for Shiel (who arguably fills a greater need for them) but spending more $ (Shiel will be on a higher salary then they would have payed gresham) in exchange for a first round draft pick. Essentially they are buying a first round draft pick.

Clever although I'm not sure the AFL will like it.

I understand the logic behind the move but it's not as win-win as what it looks. It's lose-lode and will fall out that way.

Neither player seems to address the issues of the team they would be going to.

Shiel's ball use will break down Ross's gamestyle.

Gresham is yet another talented flanker for Essendon to try and squeeze in. Heaven forbid they identify roles in their team.

Was Dow the Sub ?
Dow finished eq 7th in the Liston.

He only played 10 matches.

He may not be the full AFL package, but he is waaaaaaaaay too good for VFL.
