I prefer to think of it as when you’re strong you’re in a better position to shape which players you lose for the benefit of the squad.
That too, then you have players chasing a retirement package, as Ellis did when he left the Tigers

Which is obviously fair enough - if we perform as we'd hope & Kemp has worked his way into our side, I doubt that he leaves.
If SOS does opt to poach, we open up cap space & add additional picks which can be on-traded to fill any holes that we may have & the world keeps turning.

SOS HATES giving quality draft picks though. He would be after salary dumps.

He'll do what the list needs, which in their case is to offload aging depth, and to diversify their list away from a glut of good foot soldiers to bring a little more polish into the mix. If anything, he might be looking to move on players like Hill, Zak Jones, and Campbell.
I can't see him coming near our list unless there's a value buy in an area of need for quality, which to my read is ruck, outside mid, and key defender. Even then, it's largely about succession plans. We don't have anything he wants unless it's dirt cheap.

Agreed SOS does have a history of recruiting his previous recruits to his new club as we saw with GWS. I suspect he’s more likely going to be targeting our fringe types that he believes still have value. I could see him targeting guys like Kemp, Philp, Dow etc if they aren’t able to get a game this year and are in contract limbo late in the year or are moved on. Did this with guys like Sumner, Phillips, Pickett, Palmer etc. from GWS to us.
SoS will put saints back into premiership contention-top 4. He has a good coach he can work with and has built 2 strong lists
I would not put it passed lyon to offer JSOS a good deal to come.

If he can put the Saints into contention, great for them & him but it certainly isn't fait accompli.
IMO - It would be a reasonably questionable move for both if he were to poach JSOS.

SOS likes to bid on academy and father sons.
Makes me a bit nervous with Campos boys coming through, especially if he is holding a grudge.
SOS' list management and strategy was top shelf, it was very good. His recruiting was above average without being out of this world but then again recruiting was more of a team thing and he was more list manger than recruiter. Saints will do well having someone there to bring strategy and reign in contracts. Do saints need rebuilding or are they half way through a rebuild? They are a different story aren't they?
Maybe I am naive, but SOS is a pure Carlton lover/supporter, think he does things against every other team in the league before he would do that to Carlton. Many of those he had grievances with have since left the club too. Jsos also wouldn’t get the love at another club from fans like he does here.
Raiding GWS/GCS, well all the teams do that, I think it is harder to pluck players from a top 6 club to get them to play for the Saints

Despite SOS denying that conflict of interest was an issue, I think all involved would agree that ideally a father wouldnt be list manager at the same club his son plays at. I dont see either SOS or JSOS dezperate to put themselves back in that situation.

Saints Cap is as tight as ours, apparently? Could see them selling players (for the other King) not buying them…
