Carlton have told Kobe Ryan (West Adelaide) that they will be watching him very closely this year.

He was still on the board for us - but we had no list spots available.

Perhaps a mid season pick if we have a spot available?

Get him on the protein shakes!!

73kg.

Do we believe they may have moved on from any preference to not play at the same club? Also, he'd in North's top 4 or 5 as far as importance goes.

21:30 in answers that question, but for anyone who cbf watching Harry basically says they both think it would be cool now and they've matured a bit since they were 18

Unpopular opinion incoming.

I’d let TDK go if we were able to replace him with Ben McKay.

If the McKay boys are serious about playing together this is a no-brainer.

Ben won’t be cheap but we’ll have the means to get it done.

TDK is a good developing player but I have him clearly behind Pitto heading into 2023.

I also believe we already have a very adequate - and arguably better - replacement for him at the club already. We’re just playing him in a different position, which we won’t have to if we bring in Ben.
That would expose our ruck position by making that call, Pittonet has not played a full season and has missed a large chunk of the last two years which further exposes us, he is a real workhorse ruckman, but needs a more rounded game to be a elite ruckman.
TDK has more upside and would not be making that call before seeing if he takes the next step in 23, not too many ruckman are at their peak at his age.

This is also underselling Lewis Young who had a very good 1st up season at Carlton, this is way too early to be considering these types of decisions, let's see how both these two progress this season.
If our defence was of major concern to our list management team we could have selected Busslinger, clearly this was not the case.

It's an interesting discussion, but I am a little perplexed as to why many would be comfortable with losing TDK

While Pitto might currently be the better pure ruck option, TDK, despite his current low output is better equipped as a resting forward option and has scope to surpass Pitto as the number one ruck option

Also, not sure who you believe is the existing adequate replacement for TDK.

Mirkov is not ready, to cover the ground at AFL level. Lemmey will certainly develop as a forward/chopout ruck option, but will take time

Unless you are thinking Young, which I would agree, especially adding Ben McKay as his replacement down back

Personally, if we were to lose TDK, I would chase GWS Himmelberg, who has shown that he can play anywhere down the spin

Crows sniffing around Corey Durdin apparently..

Would be filthy if we lost him, would rather lose TDK.
Dunno where you heard that, but if there's any substance to it, the Cows can **** right off!!

Not sure he would be a high priority for them though with Rachelle and Rankine in their forward half.

If the money/offers clubs are (reportedly) throwing around for TDK and he doesn't show a bit more consistency next season, I can see the argument for letting him go. He is not a kid anymore, and has yet to prove he is worth the coin that apparently is being offered to him (in my personal opinion)

Given the over the top media love and in part thanks to the success of his brother; TDK is fast becoming a little overrated IMO.

If we were to ship him off and bring in Ben McKay, structurally, I think it would strengthen us.

Would be happier to go into games with a Silvagni/Pittonet (or Mirkov/ruck recruit) combination and have the luxury of Ben McKay down back.

Tom turns 24 in July, I expect to see a fair bit of improvement this year. He has bulked up nicely and will now not be so easily bumped out of position. His best may still be a couple of years away, so lets be patient with him. I believe he will become an elite ruck/forward for us, he is a keeper.

The problem is, why would TDK want to go to North (in its current state) but if he did, we may have to throw in a 3rd round pick to sweeten the pot (Ben has more currency as a player than TDK right now, let's make no bones about it)

I wonder if that still the case with clarko taking over. He's clearly too old to play in their next premiership. I wonder if they'd like to get another top pick to load up and have a cohort come through together.

I believe they have softened that stance, but far from desperate to play at the same club.

If North have another bad year he’d have to be considering his options.

He’s arguably their most important player.

Having said all that, I think he stays.

Not suggesting Pitto is elite, he doesn’t have to be.

Just has to play his role.

Pittonet, Young, Mirkov, Lemmey + a cheap mature backup is ample.

TDK has more upside and would not be making that call before seeing if he takes the next step in 23, not too many ruckman are at their peak at his age.

A lot can change in a year, but as things stand I’d be very comfortable doing it.

I’m suggesting Young can and should take on a greater role from 2024.

How is that underselling him?

Comfortable losing him =/= desperate to push him out.

I think we can benefit from moving him on, but very happy to keep him on also.

TDK has huge scope. I’m just not entirely convinced he’ll get there.

If there’s a big money offer on the table I think we can better use our money elsewhere.

Also, not sure who you believe is the existing adequate replacement for TDK.

Yes, Young

Had a good year down back but I’m not convinced it’s necessarily his best position going forward.

Personally, if we were to lose TDK, I would chase GWS Himmelberg, who has shown that he can play anywhere down the spin

I’d be very keen on Himmelberg.

But I think Ben is the better fit. Ideal partner for Weitering down back.

Harry definitely more likely though.

Nobody said anything about TDK going to North.

McKay is a free agent, though I’d expect North to match any $ offer.

Where is that coming from Elmer?

Herald-Sun apparently.

It makes sense, because Adelaide were intending to draft him before we gazzumped them with a pick or two before them in the draft.

Could live with a straight swap for Soligo if Durds want to the Crom (decent young mid is that lad) :)

Think you are missing one important factor, namely, what TDK wants to do

If he is willing to accept what we deem is massive overs, being offered by other clubs, then it comes down to adequate compensation

If he wants to stay, based on loyalty and a fair and reasonable contract for what we deem his progression and or ceiling, then I doubt we let him go

Don't get caught up in the media hype, all clubs have a good handle of what a player is worth, then they apply factors such as "needs" component to that contract base

If TDK wanted to change clubs, he surely would look no further than Geelong. The Cats would absolutely love to get their hands on him and they would be praying that he has an ordinary year. They would offer us a little less than we would expect and get him as another bargain. Very shrewd operator's.

TDK won't go to North ... he'll end up at Geelong I think.

Ben is a Free Agent, so we may walk out of the deal with a profit of players/picks from Geelong (which will be a challenge because I think they are locked out of this draft).

There's probably already a nice vacant block overlooking the main break at Jan Juc with his name penciled in....

But seriously, hoping the lad fulfils most of his undoubted potential (this year ideally).

I don't know about that.

If this years draft is as strong as it's purported to be; I couldn't see North turning down a pick immediately following their own (early) pick for a player who doesn't want to be there.

I can. He’s arguably their most important player.

I’d be over the moon if they didn’t match, but I can’t see it happening.
