Cmon man, it was a simple copy and paste error that anyone could have done
No need to single out PMBangers
How was I supposed to know Harley Reid's place was taking by two children in a trench coat

I wad speaking to a bloke who watches a fair bit of junior footy and he has concerns with Duursma's hardness. Any of our blokes counter this?

He isn’t the hardest player in the draft, in that he can be a bit selective as to how much commitment he has when the ball is in dispute on the ground.

Aerially though, he is very courageous, often flying for marks across packs and going back with the flight.

He isn’t on the Stephenson or Polec levels of softness, but he’s no Ziebell either.

It's probably fair to say Sheez wasn't the hardest either I think you'll agree. Feels like Duursma is a very similar prospect.

We're still a couple of years away from having a balanced list.

This means we don't need to be in a rush to solve all the holes this draft / trade period.

Drafting for needs today will make us better next year and this may be important to getting positive development from across the group next and even help us sell trading in some new blokes from other teams.

However, if we draft in best available we may end up with a higher ceiling / more talented playing list - especially noting that in the coming years we won't have as much access to the top end.

When you look at GWS their high end draft picks have meant that not only do they get great players on the list to build towards success but when players get shifted out opposition teams are paying more than a third rounder for them. I think this will allow us to trade for players and draft for players in the coming years with more flexibility than we have previously had.
Yes but we'll never have a opportunity to solve some of those holes when we have 2 x top 5 and 3x top 20 picks especially when there are 4 players who are or have been, the top 4 outstanding players all year (taking Reid & Walter out) which aren't all midfielders.

We cannot compare GWS list build/trade value as they've had access to far more high end talent, whether it is AFL assistance or academies, then any other team aside from GC so they can offload the likes of Taranto, Hopper when you have direct access to Buckley or Green...Sydney is another.

The only time we'll have a balanced list is when we are top 4 playing for prelims and GF..we've seen a list cull this season and a ruthless one by Clarkson...if Noble was still in charge, do you think McKay would have left or Perez delisted? He obviously saw something he doesn't like in these two and didn't fight hard in McKay's case and Perez's papers got stamped probably as far back as the practice game against Footscray only to watch Sheez take what should have been his position.

Each person will have there beliefs on best available player vs draft to needs - l just don't think it should be hard and fast one way or the other especially with this draft hand. - we just need to nail it!!

Really? I imagine that would be to trade up to pick 1. I could live with that.
If it takes two teen picks to get to 8, then 8 and 2 or 3 to get to 1, then its just extra steps of 2 or 3 plus two teen picks for 1.

Personally id keep 8 and takes 2, 3, 8, teen pick left over to the draft.

Sounds like two late teens picks didn't get much traction according to Twomey so it's probably going to take a very high price of three teens picks or two teens picks and a F2 or something ridiculous to get pick 7/8 that I'm not sure it's worth paying unless you know who you are getting at the pick. I think GWS won't trade if O'Sullivan is on the board, just makes too much sense for them to take an Albury kid who will likely stay long term at the club. Cats I'm not sure trade it either, they shouldn't pass up on a top 10 talent imo.

I don’t think the draft is as shallow as people are making out.
Happens every year. Funnily enough it has been sparked by a couple list managers comments to the media. Not surprisingly they have all have agendas…

Jason Cripps PA: “we think it’s a weak draft”, Port without a pick until 87 or something.

Rohan O’Brien WC: “it’s a really even draft”, Eagles with only one pick in the top 28 approximately.

Don’t need aza another cat .. no thanks

Agree. Even worse if it’s pick 25 instead of a teens pick.

Much prefer our current hand than overpaying for 8 and then overpaying again for 1.

Tasmania should be really proud of having three out of the top ten picked.
It’s a great effort and from what I’ve heard (ex Tasmanian here and have some friends who coach within the state squad), next years u18 crop are even better, not 100% sure on specific players going high in the draft but as a squad/team equally as talented if not more so then this years and last years whom both finished in a prelim in the TAC cup. Obviously with the Allies winning the overall carnival this year, those division 2 teams must really be having some sort of purple patch, it’s good to see.

Oh, well, then yea absolutely do not do that deal with anyone. Just stroll into the draft and see who gets desperate for 17/18 on the night.

Fair enough. That would also be a good outcome, but I’d rather pick 1 & 2 or 3. Reid and McKercher/Duursma.

I wouldn't hate that either, in fact looking at a bunch of different scenarios on how this plays out there's quite a few that i see as good.

But like other have been saying, this draft probably isn't actually as shallow as previously suggested. Even with those teens picks getting pushed back by players that we never on the cards anyway, we could actually fill some kpp holes with those teen picks with a surprisingly high level of talent and ability. Not necessarily superstar top 3 players, but we'd be getting 2 of those anyway with 2 and 3.

You’d find it pretty hard to find a more impressive highlights package than Collard for a small forward.

Genuine pace
Genuine xfactor
Genuine team first forward line craft

Unless he’s said im heading home in 3 years, we’d have to take him
Good chance he's there for our pick 15 or even 17 & 18 if GWS pass on him.

Draft Watchers - if Curtain slips to 9 is it worth packaging up our 2 of our 3 late teen picks plus a future 2nd/3rd to nab him?

Mick Ablett raves about him and stated he would be happy to pick him at 1 and his vision looks good to my untrained eye.
