Coleman is playing noticably much further up the ground than last season. He's spending lots of time forward of centre in very attacking positions, whilst Rayner is playing a deep anchor role.

HT. Lions had a decent amount of control to close the 2nd quarter but couldn't capitalise, Swans go down the other end and get one against the run of play to close the half.

Was a good tussle in the 2nd quarter, picked up the centre clearances a bit when Ashcroft went in there.

BOG at the half: Ashcroft

Good half. Pretty even. Had the better of the first qtr then swans better in that term. Decent all over the ground without being great. Only criticisms would be lack of composure going inside 50, lost a few basic aerial duels in defensive 50 and probably allowing end to end transition a little too easy.

From watching on the pretty rough stream.

Ashcroft is looking amazing. He's everywhere and seems to be very involved.

Defensive transition has looked better, Swans not being held up on quick transitions but Brisbane players running hard back defensively, Robertson looking good in this regard.

Back 50 is looking a bit rusty, in particular Staecevich. Hasn't been clean at all. As mentioned Coleman playing very attacking position off the back of each ball up. Rayner playing on Warner and Heeney as they rest forward.

Center clearances still an issue. Feel like both McInerney and Fort getting beaten by the Swans rookies. Making it difficult for our starting mids. Ashcroft pulled a few strips to get it forward.

Wilmot and Tunstill looking good for the wings. Berry looks very rusty, slow and not match fit which is understandable. Starcevich has been quite poor, cost us a goal or two. Ashcroft all class. Overall defensive structure looks much better. Coleman great,McKenna moving well.

I am a bit torn with Berry. We are stacked for mids but inside mid is his best shot - assuming his shoulder can stand it. I think we always need at least one big body in at centre clearances so that could be Dunkley first choice, Berry second. Leaving the wing to any of Dev / Wilmot / Bailey / Tunstill / Ah Chee / Sharp / Prior (still think his breakout games v dogs last year went under-appreciated). Surely we can find 3 wingers out of those?

Ashcroft clean centre clearance, kicks it to Cameron, quick mark & kick to Gunston set shot 40m out, slight angle. Straight over the umpires hat, goal!
