As long as you don't start selling your own merchandise , like some others
Nah, I do game reviews on fb and been told there to long so thought I'd try a speaking version is all. In fairness the true blood's merch profits goes into things with there fans like meet ups and put $ over the bar. As well as I imagine buying equipment or studio time to get the good quality audio. Unlike me in the bedroom ceiling fan heard in the background and a old gaming mic 🤣

Yeah, I think your second post sums it up well.

There was also an intangible quality about the way Roberts moved when I saw him play. It’s very hard to describe, he held his head loosely and a bit to the side while running in the same way Hannebery did - almost like they are absolutely shot but still keep running a bit like an enthusiastic puppy dog. As I said, hard to describe, it was the vibe…

I think I know what you mean. Was more obvious with Hanners because he'd stick his tongue out. :p

I believe if you buying Swans stuff you get it off the club , as like a membership it helps the bottom line

So what's everyone's thoughts on yesterday.
I really liked the look of Stephens has put on some muscle and seemed to be one of our best.
Gulden in the middle looks like could be a great move.
Alot of rust on alot of players including Warner who still showed he will be a force to be reckoned with. Mcinernry looked good and
I was also impressed with big stretch McAndrew held his own against some very good ruckman.

I agree on Stephens. He is verging on being able to intimidate opponents, such is his demeanor and confidence.
Gulden is still on an upward trajectory. His influence on games is profound. His ceiling is still unimaginable. Seeing him coming out of centre bounces more this season is going to be, I think, the most watchable football that you could want to see.
Lots of rust indeed was lost. It was just a tune up.
I am on record as a great fan of Edwards. In the absence of Hickey and Ladhams in the ruck, and in the absence of talls (Amartey and McLean, Buddy on limited minutes) he stood up and impressed me. He will be a force with the Swans in the next few years.
Stretch looked good. Really good. He is still a bean pole but you can see he has progressed since last year. At 209cm he is very tall for a ruck. I hope he continues to improve and make an impact with the Swans. With a bit more meat on his frame and more improvement in his ruck craft, I reckon he could be very valuable in the next few years.
Sheldrick was busy upfront. Hard at the contest and keeping his opponent nullified without being exceptional.
Roberts, I thought, was very influential throughout the game. There were multiple times he was involved in consecutive contests and he looked very mobile and looked like he was enjoying himself and looked comfortable in the team.
Florent was outstanding. He is just the best in tight. No one on earth can contain him. He jinks and swivels and just seems to be able to find a way to get free and deliver exceptional ball to teammates.
Campbell looks constrained to me. He did some good things. I think he needs space to show his immense talent. He has it. But it is being constrained. Maybe it is like what the Swans did with Mitchell. His attacking game was exceptional. His defensive game was crap. He spent time in the ressies until he learned a defensive game. I think the Swans are doing something similar with Campbell. He has the potential to be a superstar. But the Swans are being patient with him and building him into the complete player.
Francis is a good addition to the team. He did what he needed to do. He is a known quantity. I like him in reserve.
Warner is a force. He cannot be restrained. If you had a team of Warners we would never lose. He is very involved and hard to contain. He is a weapon. Just watch him kick the ball. It is just a stab. At least that is what it looks like. But the ball easily goes 50 meters. It amazes me.
Mills is just a superior being.
Rowbottom was very involved. He is still getting better. When I sit down to watch the Swans play He is one of my favorites. He never disappoints.
McInerney was difficult to contain. I predict a big year from him.
The two Macs were solid and have not left off from last year. We really need them. They are essential.
Hayward is another favorite of mine. He is like an exocet missile. 100% committed to every contest.

The signs are all good.

Yep, we know. Gould spoke about it quiet openly when he was talking to some fans during best 22 game against the Lions. Said he would play the VFL game but it was an issue he was dealing with and they'd see how he'd go.
Thanks I was told by someone who over heard it but thought I'd share the official statement. I wasn't aware you guys knew, I'm still learning where to see you all talk about stuff.

Oh we talk so much rubbish. Not surprising you missed it:tongueoutv1:

They will come after you for being positive about a praccy . Good write up

I think it is the most positive I have been before a season.
We have so many players on limited minutes and nursing injuries and recovering from some as well. Yet I think most will be ready round 1.

last year, I think, was a year where we exceeded expectations. We beat teams. The Win in Sydney against Geelong was epic. Buddy's 1000th. Geelong were just spectators. The Richmond win was even more epic. How can you even be more epic than epic. Warner's gaff at the end added to the drama and the confusion of the umpires and the remonstrations from the Richmond senior players was stuff you could make a move out of. The mighty signets indeed ruffled a few feathers that night. There were times throughout the year that we fell behind, but persevered and got a win. No more of that please.

This year I want to write and use words like ruthless, demoralise, merciless, unrelenting etc. We need to go to the next level and intimidate both physically and mentally our opponents.
I saw in Stephens the resolve.
Mills is already there.
Gulden eats this stuff for breakfast. Wait until he gets to high school.
The Macs are all in.
I sense a collective resolve within the team. We know what we are capable of but we need to do it consistently and we need to do it with authority.

I think it was Haywood who said we have the playbook. We just need to go out and execute it.

I just cannot wait for the real stuff.

Yeah, I think you're correct in that they need to work on the intimidation aspect. And it still drives me nuts when we seemingly take our foot off the pedal and lose % on our leads.

Huge agree. It is as if we are surprised to be so far in front and give in and go into a defensive shell. Reid or Mills now down back and hold the friggin fort! Please Horse find another way.

The additional person on the bench is going to be beneficial for us in the early rounds with both our rucks under injury clouds. Imo we are likely to go in with Reid as our main ruck (hopefully he won't be injured) with the McAndrew & either Mclean or Amartey as the tactical sub (if they're fit). I can't believe we're still relying on Reid's health after all these years lol. Also we're cursed with ruck issues ffs.

Would imagine McAndrew is in the mix and debuts under these circumstances not Reid as the primary

There's no additional player? I don't think the use of the sub is going to change much. Clubs are going to still see it as primarily a medical sub, since it's fairly common to have someone go down in the first 2 or 3 quarters. Probabilities are it's not a tall.

If we took Reid and McAndrew into a game, although I think we'd just select McLean or Amartey if fit (over McAndrew), we're just going to pick the sub as usual e.g. next best (non tall).

My hope for 2023.
When we find ourselves with over 50 points in the first quarter, we apply boot to throat and press firmly for the rest of the match. Time for the Swans to build a killer instinct.
My hope for 2023.
Tommy Papley to do more of these celebrations. pappa.PNG

Ruck division is like our own version of a Spinal Tap drummer.

When your ruck division is in either a nappy or a Zimmer frame, issues must be expected.
