I guess we will never know.

Forgetting about Dow it’s about all the players on the list. Some get selected regardless of form and some will never get rewarded. Terrible for team culture I would think.
I reckon it’s more a “player for player” like now we have a bit of depth. Ie:LOB in for Hollands Cincotta in for Newman Fisher in for god knows who 😂😂😂 although I’d say Fish/Walsh will swap into the guts and HHF with Walsh at more centre bounces that sort of thing.

Many times over previous years we have been absolutely putrid but this season seems worse as coming into the season we had hope and expectations.
I am sure if we continue being as bad our membership numbers are going to drop big time next year.

Pick players who have consistent form, not play one good reserves game and they are back in. Carlton is constantly killing themselves at the selection table. Lewis Young did nothing last week to warrant getting selected. Dow better be the sub, he deserves at least that.
I think that selection is more out of necessity to have someone tall enough to handle Grundy and Gawn when they rest forward.

Dow has played 65 senior games and many more in the reserves, he’s a known quantity.
For what it’s worth, I like him and hopes he finds a new club next year which gives him a crack at achieving a career at AFL level.
Lochie O'Brien has played 65 senior games and many more in the reserves, he's a known quantity.

Yet, is repeatedly selected after being dropped for clearly being well below AFL standard the moment any pressure is applied.

Dow, however, is not afforded the same.

I genuinely wish they’d pick Dow just so we’d stop discussing him here.

I think he should have got a game for what it’s worth.

But why aren’t we playing Binns over LoB. That’s what’s got me confused. Binns isn’t perfect by any stretch, but he has shown a crap-tonne in VFL.

Ach, whatever. I had zero expectation for this game. It hasn’t changed. I will be gobsmacked if we get even close.

This x 10000.

I wish the club would give up on this stupid experiment. Play him where he belongs, as the AA HBF that he is…

And Bam Bam in the middle splitting time with Cripps forward. It’s what needs to happen . Not
withstanding the whole team plays hard , attacking brave football. Looking forward to the game. To see what happens. Go Blues.

Conspiracy time.....

Saw some footage of Paddy at training, not a care in the world, didn't look like someone on the outer, frustrated, he kicked a goal in training and was fist pumping whilst Walsh solemnly walked past him........
What if club X told him they wanted him but couldn't fit him in last year, told him to sit tight at Carlton for the final year of his contract and they'd pick him up for naught as a free delisted agent at the end of this season. Certainly explains his demeanor and how players seemingly bypassed him on the track. Also lends itself to what was mentioned by one of us in regards to him not being a good fit to the rest of the team, and something I've heard about an "agreement"....
Just saying, starting to make sense, especially if the club have got wind of something
I doubt Dow would still have such a bubbly attitude at training if he knew everyone around him was pissed at him and wanted him out every day just because he knew he had a new job in 12 months.

People don't work that way.

Reckon the coach will regret making statements like this

'Don't think we're too far away'

Unfortunately we’ve avoided any brave selections again (binns, dow woulda been something) so imagine we will play the same bland type of footy we’ve played so far this year.
Stubborn.
I get being positive, but there’s a point where you’re deluded. Many others have said, you can be stubborn when it’s working, but it clearly ain’t in so many facets of our game day performance that everything the club does shoulda been looked at, yet we hear voss say he’s happy with his midfield mix and we aren’t far away etc
Sheesh.

The game style won’t change at all. The game style is to play a chip chip possession style that allows the defence to fall in behind. The fact that it allows there defence to do the same is meant to be mitigated by our twin towers who, at worst, will bring it to ground. But our smalls have been awful all year and one of our twin towers is barely a shack (and I love him and was proud of him speaking out this week, but he is in a rut).

But, yeah.

But why wouldn't he replace Hewett??? And BTW if you hadn't noticed, the stellar midfield you have listed is ranked 16th in the comp, the team is 12th and we are not playing Finals.

Can understand not changing a winning formula, but we have a losing formula and a lot of it is a consequence of having a one paced SLOW midfield.

Dow wouldn't change our fortune, in fact he would make it worse

But of course, I don't pick the side

Would prefer Young as 2nd ruck.

Our game has missed effective end-to-end transition and drive out of the HB line. So I’d prefer Doc at HB with Saad to double team as the architects back there, and provide the run.

And Kennedy instead of JSOS at HF with Dow in midfield. And Fog as sub.

But, I suppose bring on Friday night. Hope the team can turn it around.

That will get us going, but even kicking at the AFL average we’d still be miles off where we should be.
Definitely have other issues with ball movement and general ball use but if we just converted the chances we create it would give the group a bit of confidence.

He has been ordinary, all at sea
Not even close. Appreciate your player reviews normally but Kemps a beauty, being forced to 'learn' a negative first approach. Was one of the best last week too. Skill errors are rife with everyone once the confidence returns to the team they'll disappear hopefully. From everyone.

Kemp's got 10 year star potential. Hasnt even played 10 games and is already showing his shit. Definitely Being judged against a standard not applied to others at similar games played.

Wish the all at sea criticism would shift to the experienced players absolutely stinking it up. (ahem cripps, Harry, Newman, young, acres, Saad, McGovern etc etc)

Still think he makes it, but no, has been a liability last 2 weeks

Yeh can cop the odd error Kemp makes. Can't cop the schoolboy errors Gov made against the Swans last week (i.e. failing to shepherd, giving a holding free away for holding a man half his size)...
