I need suggestions for things to do when Carlton are playing.

I’m probably old enough to join the local men’s shed but I’m scared they’ll have a telly on in the corner.

Might volunteer at the dog shelter, can’t be angry when you’re looking after the poochies.
Go clothes shopping with the significant other. You'll be back watching footy faster than a politician breaks an election promise.

Get Curnow and McKay deep. It's not working having 1 high and 1 deep. It actually makes it easier to defend both of them. Get third tall forward in to play high up. DeKoning or Young. It's easier to kick accurately when you haven't been covering Ks up the field, your legs are fresh and your getting your kicks closer and in better position.

Get Durdin on the ball. He was an onballer in the U18s. He tackles, he chases, he's quick, he gets some onball time occasionally and he's great. He could be our Jack Viney. He's short, nimble, quick and a pressure player, he's exactly what we need in there.

Paddy Dow was a goal kicking mid in the VFL last year until we decided to stop developing this trait in him this year. Yes our player development sucks and has gone backwards.

B: Kemp Weitering Cincotta
HB: Docherty McGovern Saad
C: Binns Kennedy Acres
HF: Cottrell DeKoning Owies
F: McKay Curnow Motlop
OB: Pittonet Walsh Cerra
IC: Boyd Dow Durdin Young
Sub: Fisher

IN: Cincotta Binns Dow Fisher Young

OUT: Hewett Hollands Cripps Curnow Newman

Dow - Has to come in as a forward/mid. He's a burst player, not a grind it out in the midfield all day player. He and Durdin split their time between forward pocket and onball.

Cincotta is a good in, he was a bad out IMO. Need to stick with Kemp, he is a future Newman upgrade/replacement. Binns will be reliable, he's a quality player, we will like him at AFL level, he's footy IQ is better than Hollands and he's a great athlete and natural footballer.

Our two key forwards need to play closer to each other, this has worked in the past, makes them less vulnerable to double teaming and makes our ball movement less predictable. Can sit in front of one of them as a lose defender but not both of them when they are in the same vicinity. Makes our entries less predictable and spreads the defence.

DeKoning needs to play CHF and needs to pull his finger out in this role so Harry and Charlie can do what they do best and stay deep and stay fresh.

Think that backline is ok, it's smaller and quicker. Young will have to play to take the resting ruckmen. Would not be against using him in the ruck instead of DeKoning at times. Keep DeKoning forward.

Need to see that backline running forward from behind more.

Docherty will be able to go into the middle a fair bit. Playing 8 defenders so one rotates.

Dow and Durdin add a lot of speed to a onball group desperate for it.

Hewett Cripps Curnow and Newman. That's a lot of slow feet going out of the team for some quicker feet. Don't be surprised if this works. Don't be surprised if our coach does everything he can not to pick a team like this because he can't think outside the box.

It isn't very horse friendly either.
One can't expect to see a decent water trough, and not even a deep navy blue horse rug at Ralph Lauren!
Pah-thetic.

So we know these are the defenent outs ATM:

Hollands/Cerra/Hewett/Newman

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app

Hollands - Binns
Cerra - Dow
Hewitt - Fisher
Newman - Cinc

Sub Ed- JSOS

I know that won’t happen but that’s what I would do

Out: Hewett, Hollands, Cez, Newman

In: Fisher, Binns, Dow, Ed

Gov Weiters Boyd
Doc Kemp Saad
Acres Cripps Binns
Cotts Charlie Fish
Owies Harry TDK

Pitt Dow Kennedy

Walsh Durdin Mots Ed

Sub: LoB

Doc playing half back with relieving SHORT stints in the middle. No Kennedy in the back half, mid forward and that’s It.

Fish only in due to lack of a viable alternative.

Ed only in because that’s what Voss will do.

In: binns, cincotta, dow, fish

Out: hewitt, hollands, newman, chez, ed

Use the run and foot skills from saad, boyd, cincotta from the back.

Using running power of walsh, doc, binns and cottrol through midfield. Stop relying on contested marking to chain and use shorter options and running players.

Keep durdin or motlop deeper and front and centre H.
Play both harry and charlie in 50.
Acres to play half forward.

Tdk/pitto to play in centre square.

Go Blues.

We will make the eight. Couldn't have had a worse start to the season and we find ourselves half a game out.

Common sense says we can't continue to play this badly. We will go on a run at some point.

Just when you think all is lost, it always changes.

Carlton have not turned around a losing streak, without changing the coach for 22 years. I doubt it will change now.

Durdin wants to play mid and I agree he has a lot of good traits. Wouldn’t be against dropping him to 2’s so he could work at his mid game, but no great alternatives for now

I fully expect to look in the TV Guide and see this game listed under the "comedy" genre because they're going to make us look silly.

Dow will probably come into the line up as the injury list grows. But won't have the senior heads around to assist him so will look like a fish out of water and will be dropped after 1 game.

This club has destroyed my spirit. I didn't think our year would pan out this way that's for sure.
