How do we get Hollands back in? Luckily we've hit form so can make him earn that spot back over a few weeks in the seconds. Right now, Acres and Cotts are just lighting it up, and Walshy is giving us great run on the outside (not to mention the other backup brigade).

Assuming Mitch and MK are out and TDK is fit, I'd go:
  • Gov out for Marchy (closest like for like and Marchy BOG in 2nds)
  • Young for TDK (take 2)
  • Kennedy for Dow/Hollands/Binns
The last one will be the most contentious and one I won't bother speculating on. I think Dow deserves a go and has made an impact whenever he's come on this year. BUT think the club most likely just keeps Hewett in the 22 now, with Ollie called up as the sub (with a view to bringing him into the 22 the week after).

Big week for the club and a game that could define our season. Win, and the chance at the F word and redemption for 2022 is a real possibility.

Mostly though, I'm just enjoying us playing good, positive and easy-to-watch footy.

Reckon we go again with no rucks. Our midfield isn't the quickest so having an extra two players able to run up and down the park to give us options might be worth more than a ruckman at the moment. Young, without feeling the pressure floated back to take intercept marks. And Silvagni is a beast when the ball hits the ground in a pack. Let's try for one more week.

Kennedy is a massive blow. The guy is a genuinely good kick and magnificent mark of the ball. Not many midfielders have his marking ability. Bring Hewitt in and see if he can recapture any of last year's early form.

We should run the risk and bring in Marchbank if McGovern is out. His aerobic capacity isn't really an issue.

Their rucks are out as well.

Marshall and Finlayson don't really play that tall. Will be fine down back with Weiters, Marchy/MCG, Kemp. Though Kemp has now had a couple of poor games (generally Greene was his man and he managed to get a free way too often)

Marchy has been pretty quiet on his return up until the weekend where he 23 possessions
Everyone smashed it in the 2's slaughter of Coburg. i think marchy needs a few more games before promotion. Durdin for me.

If dow wasn't concussed he would have probably been sub this week so hewitt could get a full game in reserves .. interesting decision for MC ..
Pity Carroll hasn't come on as I thought he would ..

Mods can you guys start a Dow thread this week cause this place is gonna be filled with Dow talk all week and quite frankly it’s getting boring now.

Nah. It's actually relevant this week if he's recovered. Should be him or Hewett in and the other sub. Appropriate discussion this week

At least Carrol played what was probably his best reserves game on the weekend. Has been unlucky with injuries this year.

Would be happy not to see Hollands in the senior side again this year.

Dont quite think his body is strong enough at this point for footy.

He will be a player for us in future years so don't feel the need to play him again in 2023

It feels nice to be optimistic again heading into a big match! We finally have our balance right and I think this mainly comes from the front half pressure of Cuningham, Martin and Fogarty plus a much more balanced and fast backline. Cincotta, Boyd, Saad and Kemp gives us much better foot skills and speed than what we had at the start of the year.

I'd bring in Carrol for Kennedy, he has a bit more zip than Hewett.

They're due for a loss surely.
They 100% are. I'd have been worried if they faltered on the weekend and we were playing them off that broken streak. But now we have the opportunity to burst the bubble (thankfully away from AO) and create that problem for another side.

I still refuse to believe after this year broke me (I was one who emailed the club in frustration) and am just enjoying watching us play good, connected, pressure footy again. Win this week and the needle may just begin to swing back.

They have the pies after us at AO.

If I were Ken Hinkley, I'd be engineering a loss to Carlton this week to get the Port boys fired up for the Pies the week after.

Its the only sane course of action for them if you think about it :p

Kemp is young and inexperienced. Fluctuations in form is expected.
